What makes you so sure of this lol? Blizzard has a big interest in their game being broadcasted in Korea and not being completely ousted by League of Legends and other titles. It's not like Kespa and Gom are groveling at Blizzard's feet.

I mean, their track record indicates otherwise, but arent we getting ahead of ourselves?
How is it make sense to keep players who feel ready to participate? If you are not ready, stay home, that simple. It's not GOM says "you have to come", they are saying "come if you want", players are saying "cool, I'm coming", and KeSPA is saying "No, no you are not, because your little brother is not ready to go with you yet."
There are ALWAYS tournaments. Schedule conflict means nothing in today's scene. What, you expect KeSPA players to show up only when KeSPA don't have any activity during the whole 2 months period for GSL?

Its relevant to the conversation at hand because Blizzard is stepping into the fray. Blizzard will always do whats best for Blizzard. Allowing themselves to be sued is not part of that. Why would they do anything else? Charity? Whats GOM gonna say? No? Of course not. At the end of the day, its Blizzard's bat and ball.
This is how its always worked, and the situation is in no way unique so i don't see the point of conjecturing that Blizzard has created a unique circumstance where they let themselves be sued. That would just be silly.

Well obviously they want to, thats not up for debate. But Starcraft 2 is the property of Blizzard, and no one else.
They want the game broadcasted, but Kespa pulling parlor tricks is hurting the broadcasting scene and Blizzard doesnt like that.

Place those two component into one entity and I'll be one happy panda. And the only way to do that is for OGN to get those two on board. In the same process, GSL would probably die off due to my guilty pleasure. I will be surely guilty for the 'catastrophic' event on GOM's part, yes. But momentarily, I will also be pleased. And as Patrick Bateman once said: "...it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves."
The mistake here is in thinking Tastosis still actually does anything for GOM. Anyway, for someone who partly blames the death of BW on Tastosis you seem to really want them to be with OGN.

You don't believe competition is healthier in the long run?

What really makes me laugh is somehow they are above getting their asses whooped. Do you hear foreigners complaining about playing GOM and/or Code S players? We lose and lose but we just take it.
Now Kespa plays these games with SC2 community because they don't want their little players getting hurt, lulz. "What if Flash is beaten by MVP then the jig is up! Oh my!"
If they are so scared have them face US then they will easily win right? ;-)

if i was kespa i would probably do the same for the sake of sponsors wanting their players do well. what we saw at wcs was only a handful and only a few got through meanwhile shitload of kespa players didnt make it or try.
kespa players are simply not at the top of their level.
however, i personally would hold a meeting and see how the players feel and see how many would like to enter and whatnot but thats questioning the system and that seems unproductive so there is no need.
be patient, it will come. as for osl, osl is the home of kespa individual league and "gom players" are not tied to gom in any way like kespa and bw pros.
i root for kespa players and it would suck so much if 40 kespa players entered gsl qualifiers and only 5 got through, if that.
and i still dont like gom for not taking care of koreans outside of korea after 2 years. unlike majority here, i stopped watching gsl and whole sc2 streams because of english commentary and started watching sc2 again thanks to ogn's korean commentary.
So then why give 8 OSL spots to gsl players? Before I was hoping that both bw and sc2 players advance to ro8, to keep bw viewers watching, but now I just hope gsl players stomp every one of bw players and only them advance to the next round.

Now that's the kespa I know.

If KeSPA was a player, he would have fantastic mechanics but piss poor decision making. Interesting to see them still retain this trademark decision making.
However, there was a post several pages back about an upcoming "big project" that made them pull out of GSL. Unless we know the specifics to this "big project," then I don't think it's right to fully judge KeSPA for this decision yet.

thats just unneeded hate i'm not sure if kespa has control over ogn, ogn has the right to invite gsl players, no? "gom players" getting top 4 spots in osl is a genuine concern of mine though

I dont see why they banned all of their players from participating though. Seems unfair to the players. The new project better be big.

Yea, they would. Some of them have reached KR GM very quickly, something most foreigners couldnt do given these past 2 years.

I don't think this will be good. Kespa could drop SC2 altogether if Blizzard is too bossy.
And do what? Keep Flash on the payroll to look pretty?
They can't go back to BW now, they've already killed that off. The fact is both sides need each other, so my guess is not much happens - Blizzard lets KeSPA avoid GSL for one season (because KeSPA already announced it) on the promise that KeSPA players will participate in the following season.

This is ALREADY the second season. GOM invited KeSPA last season and they said "nope, not ready, next time", which most people would agree so it wasn't a big deal. They can't use that excuse and say "not ready" when they already get GOM players in OSL.

Wow.
Does anyone seriously have the right to be butthurt by this? Unless I missed something and kespa is backing out of a prior agreement, it sounds to me like gom is just whining because they don't want to wait another season to get that kespa viewership $$. Protecting the brand of their teams and players matters, and waiting until more than a couple players would have better than okay results is just good business. Dumping their reputation in the shitter wouldn't just be bad for them, it'd be bad for everyone. Remember, these teams are loaded; more money in the industry is good, right? In order to keep bringing in that money they need good results, right? Right. They're still practicing bw ffs.
But wait, I forgot that we just beat our chests around here for the fun of it. Sorry, carry on. o.O

Blizzard shuts down streaming rights for Kespa on SC2 and BW, then what happens? Kespa goes to another game? No, they're done. the players go off on their own and join GSL anyways. That's the implications that blizzard has in this stance, that's why they have much say. Because Kespa is all but useless in this situation, there's already a global tournament that takes place that the world views as the top standard of play for the game.

It would be true if OSL didn't have GSL players. You can't have it both ways.

Ugh, KESPA are so power hungry. It's perfectly fine for GSL players to participate in OSL (it is OGN's control, but I'm sure KESPA has enough pull in it to decide yes or no), but KESPA players can't participate in GSL? I wonder how long before they're actually gonna be "ready" to play.. 2013?
