Night 1: Black as Pitch ![[image loading]](http://www.lexikus.de/pics/manager/orte_staedte_plaetze/romantic_germany/289-dresden.jpg) Tea, saucer, and biscuit; an old man sat alone with the implements of his after supper habit placed carefully on the table in front of him. He brooded quietly on the remains of the day. His clothes, stained and uncomfortable from the day’s labor, and normally relinquished at this hour, remained sagging, sullenly, on his stooped frame. He sensed rain, and knew it would come before the dying of the light. The knocks, too, would come. An undertaker was a busy man in dark times, and these times were darker than most. The gallows, hastily constructed in the light of morning, stood as a sudden and stark reminder that the revolutionaries, in their fervor, were determined to root out and eliminate all who still stood by the crown. Any innocence contained in the ever-green, young timbers will drain away, as the life of the first accused drains away. The old man frowned. The rain, and thunder, arrived with the knock. He listened, and recognized the voice. VisceraEyes bellowed to him, "All true citizens of Liquidia shall at once report to the town square to see to the righteous work of the rebellion. All shall be accounted for, and those absent will be considered monarchist and traitor to friend, neighbor, and country alike!" The old man was already moving, gathering his twine and charcoal pencil. There would be a corpse to measure. The gathering, damp and macabre, stood in contrast to the heat that burned in the blood of many in attendance. The fervor of those gathered was palpable; a keen knive's edge to every gaze, a fiery blossom in every complexion. The old man looked around and saw faces he knew. Marvellosity, face half-buried in a scarf to keep back the chill, eyed him, and nodded respectfully. Palmar stood statuesque, his mouth drawn into a unerring line, and stole a quick glance before casting his eyes downward. Lvdr and Djagulingu spoke softly to each other in the periphery, pointing at the gallows and then at him. Most others paid him no mind. Such was the way with those who consorted with the dead. Shady Sands was the first to speak. "Lend me your ears," he called, "for this day, the revolution marches forward, and grows stronger with each monarchist brought to justice. Who among us still wears the Red with pride?" The crowd erupted with shouts. "Kville skulks around our streets like an urchin!" cried one. "VisceraEyes would see us all dead, I believe it to be true!" cried another. Still more cries; "Bluelightz! Bluelightz!" they said. Marvellosity stepped carefully up onto the gallows amongst the uproar, tore off his scarf, and with raised arms, barked "SILENCE! If this revolution is to succeed, we must keep level heads. Hear me now. Bluelightz has long been a friend to the revolution, and a friend to you and me. There is one man who has always sought to evade our gaze, who has never made a friend amongst the common-folk, and who would double-cross you as soon as he would shake your hand. His name is Obvious.660, and it is time for him to pay his debt to our new society!" iamperfection thrust his fist skyward and shouted "Hear hear!" His call was adopted by all…and so they had chosen. Obvious.660, ashen, was led from the crowd and up to the gallows. As the noose was fitted, he spoke to the crowd. "Your new order is a farce, and you are welcome to it. I pray the rot on my dead body will incite a plague on you and yours!" The old man looked on. He had seen death more times than he could count, and when the hatch underneath Obvious.660’s feet opened, the only thought in his mind was the size of the casket. The crowd dispersed as they always did, leaving him with the body. They never saw what he saw…the dramatic tinge of color the skin of the recently dead adopted. He stopped for a moment to admire the soft, almost glowing green, and then began to measure. Obvious.660, as Nicolas Duvauchelle the Vanilla Townie, was lynched! If you have roles use them wisely. if we have a jailer I don't mind being locked up. If we have a vigilante shoot into the lurkers please. Talis is a good target, maybe shady. marv is a decent target too and perfection. Just pick one. cops go for higher profiles. whatever, just don't be an idiot with your roles. | ||
