I'm not going to say mech in TvP is or isn't viable in HoTS, as the expansion still isn't even out yet, but there are players that make it work for them in the beta. As far as an actual unit in your army composition to fight with, no, they're more or less a waste of supply. Unless you're going for a gimmicky multi-rax reaper or reaper/hellion/banshee build. However they still make great scouting/harrassing units. I personally use a reaper after a 1 rax fe/3 rax followup as soon as my first tech lab is done to scout with as I start stim. Or after cc first/2 rax opener. It's a decent time to scout for proxy pylons, and get into the main base to take a look around to see tech paths without having to waste a scan that early. Another option in TvZ, if you're opening 3 rax/bio before tank production, is to make ~3 of them to clear creep and take a little bit of map control since you won't have reactor hellions. But that's risky unless you know your opponent isn't going for early roach aggro. | ||

Also, is it ok to have 2x proxy barracks? Or 1 constantly pumping marauders is enough? So, BO would be 10 SD 12 gas 13 proxy rax @100%rax, Tech Lab and shells @100%rax, start marauders, and OC 16 SD @100% shells, attack This sounds good? What about having 2 rax, will it delay a lot or will it be good? | ||

zvt How you defend 6m banebust out of 15hat? It has atleast 7banelings and 12~ zerglings with huge reinforcements making. I am using 1rax fe into blueflame hellion timing. -I know that if he mines over 100 gas it's probably allin. -I know if he doesn't make second queen it's probably allin. Is it simply matter of scv scouting one of those facts? Can you skip scv scout and use hellion or marinepush? How about reacting? I use techlabbed and reactored factories to make hellions or raw factories to make hellions? Placement of bunker is something I have learned but using supply depots to simcity is something i dont know about. It probably would lead to supplyblock. If you are going BF then you can get a tank out instead, this can serve as a temporary wall against banelings. If you are certain it is coming just make a wall with your factories and rax. | ||

![]() Diamond terran here btw, and as for the questions: 1. Thoughts on hellion/marauder 1 base allins in TvT? Lately i decided to focus on tvz and tvp so i needed a way to quickly end my tvt's. I know it is a very potent unit mix in other matchups but i havent really seen it used in tvt at all so i gave it a shot. I've been stomping people so hard it made me wonder how it would pan out if i had a polished build, as i just wing it so its far from tight.. What i've done is just classic 12 rax/13 gas reactor hellion opening and i add 2 raxes while the factory and reactor are building -> make 2 techlabs -> attack with 4-6 hellions, 2-4 marauders, 2-4 marines while reinforcing. Has something similar been done at pro level? Since im wondering about the best way to arrange the production/when to cut scvs, pull guys from gas/should i pull scvs aswell and so on. Its not easy to scout so people without bunker and a well timed pull just die instantly, and even the prepared ones mostly lost since 6 hellions quickly get the repairing scvs. But again, its diamond so the level of play is bad.. 2. I'm looking for examples of openers for 3 base marine tank allins in TvZ that neglect creep suppression early on (skip banshee, low number or no hellions) for more safety but dont delay third CC/double ebay too much and start tank production early so i have more for the 2/2 push. I've been dying (or getting crippled) to some 2 base Z pushes that hit before my siege mode is done so i'm wondering if i need a rearrangement or if it's a poor control/BO execution issue. Way i open (roughly) is: rax, CC, 2x gas, reactor hellion + TL on rax, CC, after 2 hellions swap factory for tanks and rax on reactor for 2x marines, double ebay. I don't really scv scout since people do all kinds of random stuff in diamond so seeing more gas getting mined can be literally anything. Makes it hard to read the aggression before it's on the way.. Not really viable in TvT, if you want an all-in TvT, 1-1-1 is nice, especially so on certain maps like Antiga. 2. Bombers TvZ is perfect for you, Day9 done a daily on it. | ||
