What about cheating in a tournament? Still a computer game. Hell, playing computer games is ABSOLUTELY not something an adult does, why does this site even exist? We should all quit SC2 and go do something useful with our lives! When will you people realise that you have no proof that cruncher actually cheated? What do you need proof for? Also, do you realize that if he was cheating the only proof you could get was from him providing it himself? Intuition is enough to make a forum post about it it's not like IdrA asked battle.net to ban CrunCher for cheating. Wait what? People are calling for Cruncher to be banned for cheating, Idra flaming him in his classical...idra style. Of course you need proof if you're going to call for someone to be punished. That's just common sense.
I'm talking about IdrA getting banned. I'm not asking for CrunCher to be banned.

+ Show Spoiler +On May 06 2011 09:51 Subllat wrote: The sheer idiocy that I will likely get a ban from this is absurd, but I'm going to do it anyway.
I thought about making this thread, but didn't have a place to put it until now. I'm not going to discuss Chill's moderation, but instead, the team's moderation as a whole.
A quality forum is ESSENTIAL for the SC:BW and SC2 community. Truly, our forum's quality should match that of the events that we view, and the game that we play, the community we love, and the skills that those we watch have.
Further, it is OF COURSE the TL moderation team's job to keep the forum clean, organized, and not filled with trolls.
However, when the forum is being moderated in it's current fashion. well then it's not really able to serve its purpose as a forum at all is it?
Forum - A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged
A meeting or medium; alright we have that part down. Where views on a particular issue can be exchanged...Well..I'm not quite so sure about this one. When your chances of being banned are higher than of sharing your ideas, then I have a hard time feeling like I'm at a forum, and more like I'm waiting in line at a Nazi concentration camp to see if they'll feed me that day, or kick me out of line.
It's truly a shame, we see that the SC2 Reddit has 0 moderation, and yet thrives, with quality posts, good information ETC. The fact that in the strategy forum for a new player to just get a bit of help, means spending so much time trying to get help, evading bans, and framing their question in the exact rigid format to avoid being slammed hard as hell in the face with the ban hammer than actually getting help is sickening.
I would reach to the "power trip" point, but I feel the moderation team is mature enough to handle themselves better than that. It's just ludicrous to assume that in your attempts to help the forum, you aren't hurting it further, when you have 2 even 3 stickies on how to post!
Now, I'm not saying we have to get rid of strictness, believe me some of it is needed, I think that if the same level of rigidity is to be kept the amount of effort a poster has to put into a post should be matched by that of moderators. When a moderator closes a thread with "Read the guidelines", frankly, you sound like a fucking asshole. If even maybe a 2 to 3 line minimum reason would be ok, maybe a direct quote from the guidelines, I could be ok with it. Sure, the rules say "THIS IS OUR HOUSE", the exact opposite is true, this forum ISN'T for you moderators, it is for us, the posters, or else you moderators wouldn't be needed.
In closing, I have never seen a forum so strictly moderated in my life, and I have never seen quality suffer so severely from it, the worst part is, it could be fixed so easy. A community trying to grow does not need a constant muzzle, it doesn't need a stun gun every time it gets a bit out of line. I'll probably be banned for this as I said, but I hope some of you recognize what I'm saying.
User was temp banned for this post. Well said.
Back to Idra: I'm just saddened that he got himself banned during his special gift from SOTG commentating week. All fans need to go to his twitter and keep a sharp eye out. Be particularly careful because twitter commonly has posts that show as current but were posted hours, if not days, ago. D:
Besides this drama occurring, I'm learning quite a bit about my matchups against Z as he points out what is bad and what is not. ^^

Eagerly awaiting the next time IdrA gets to stream. Was really entertaining today.

The Blizzard Ladder and JustinTV are not under the jurisdiction of TeamLiquid. Cruncher didn't say anything in his post to get banned, unless there was something nasty before it was edited, of which I am unaware.
It cannot be proved that Cruncher cheated by listening/watching to Idra's stream. There is obviously evidence that would support that accusation, but nothing concrete. He provided in the aforementioned post of his some sound reasoning for expecting an all-in. Idra also provided similar reasoning when he said [I'm just gonna all-in since his Nexus is up before my hatchery]. If that's such a logical decision for Idra, it's equally logical for Cruncher to expect it. Add the precedent set recently by aggressive zergs such as Losira and Idra himself.
People arguing that Idra's "waste of life" comment was somehow directed at the fans to "not waste their life/time paying attention to Cruncher" are in some alternate universe where Idra doesn't hate Cruncher. It became clear during the stream between the silence, even faster click spamming, and the remarks Idra eventually made, that he really wanted to beat Cruncher and despises him. Besides that's the Idra we know and hate/love, right? Not some "protector of the people" nonsense.
As someone else said recently, this won't hurt Idra. All of the attention he receives and the last 10 pages of this thread exploding into some massive whine/ban fest, not least the fact that Idra had 15k viewers while another fan favorite, TLO, had 2.5k viewers last I checked, all point towards success.
And no, it isn't just because he's a great player. Does Select cause this much controversy? How about Kas, Nada, Boxer even? Nope, their fan club threads aren't 400 pages. MC and HuK do make a little splash though and have relatively long fan club threads. I listed both of those players so perhaps avoid your knee-jerk reaction that "huk sucks" unless you're prepared to say "MC sucks" too. Also, Mvp's thread is like 10 pages, let's go tell him how cute his face is when playing <3

I am a huge IdrA fanboy but, come on man...way to show the ban didn't get to you.
Also: Who cares if he stream cheated? He lost a few points? big whoop.

Cruncher... just stream snipe via TL's embed next time buddy, you don't actually be logged into Jtv. This is internet 101 stuff!

Also, Mvp's thread is like 10 pages, let's go tell him how cute his face is when playing <3 I think the point haylmfao was making is that putting down Starcraft as though its some child's computer game on a website dedicated to all things Starcraft is just hypocritical and silly, especially when it's moderator of that site doing it. Starcraft 2, at this point, is not "just a computer game." It's a career and an event. It has stars, underdogs, and tens of thousands of dedicated fans. To Idra, this is not a computer game. It's something that he has dedicated years of his life to. When Cruncher, who has openly insulted him in past, begins (potentially) cheating on his stream, of course he is going to backlash.
I won't make any statement about whether Cruncher really did cheat or if Idra deserved to be banned. What I will say is that putting down Starcraft as nothing more than a computer game on the premier site for that very game is pretty ridiculous.

For clarification because you lack reading comprehension, martyring yourself will result in a ban. It has been said and shown to be true a thousand times over on this forum.
