Yeah i agree with this.

1970 Brazil might be a competition.
Maradona's Argentina certainly weren't, they were carried by Maradona and had nothing like the depth of this Spain side. Not to mention they only won one World Cup and one Copa America.

Is anyone else's ESPN stuttering?

I think you're underestimating how much having Maradona adds to your team, lol. I'd say 1970 Brazil is easily more legendary than this Spain team, though. They dominated everything, and convincingly. Spain hasn't been convincing outside of this game, lol.

Either way, it doesn't matter, like I said, because being the best of all time is about being the best, not about winning for a long period of time. There are teams that won the WC once and nothing else that I'd put in the running for best national team ever.
Every team that wins a World Cup plays great football.
Winning 2 European Championships and a World Cup in a row is completely unprecedented.

The Brazil 2002 WC squad could easily match up against this Spain squad.

As good as Pele's Brazil and Maradona's Argentina were, they would lose horribly to this Spanish team of the past 4 years. Football is a different and a harder game now than it was before. The players are better, and the strategy & tactics are more evolved. In terms of pure ability, this has got to be the greatest side in international setting. If they win 3 majors in a row, they'll also have the achievement to back that claim. Sometimes, you have to set aside nostalgia and really look at things.

They haven't even conceded a goal in the knock outs since 2006. They are dominant as it gets. Brazil didn't even win the 74 or 66 World Cup, in fact they didn't even make the final.

'78s argentina was a much much much better team than '86s argentina. Maradona didn't have the garrinchas and the rivaldos that Pele and Ronaldo had. That's why he's the best ever was until Messi.

Yes, a midfield of Kleberson, Vampeta and Gilberto Silva would do well against this.
Some people really have no idea how football works.

how can someone even think you could compare national teams of different decades -.-
would every euro team of 2012 defeat the world champions of 1954? probably yes. does that mean they played bad football back then? absolutely not.
in addition to that: dont try to argue with aeroplane, he's a well known flamebaiter and doesnt accept opinions other than his own ;-)

So while there may be a few Spanish players, like Iniesta, who can be called true legends, the team itself has changed greatly.
Forgot about Brazil 2002. I don't think this Spain team would be able to handle Ronaldo.

cant waste chances like that italy >.<

Either way, let's get back to the game. This isn't really relevant.

Ramos, Casillas, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva, Torres and Fabregas all played in 2008. That's still the majority of the team.

Looked very much liike handball. The arm was up in the box. Perhaps if Spain weren't 2 up, it would've been given.
|
Probably should've been a penalty, yeah.
|
Should have been penalty. Clear example for "unnatural position"
|
|
100% penalty. the hand has nothing to do there.
