The "greatest team of all time" has nothing to do with winning consecutive tournaments especially since this team is substantially different than euro2008. Maybe Spain is the most consistently strong team of all time. But in terms of one-time performances, the time to be saying what you're saying would have been after WC2010, not now.

I'm really impressed by Italy. They deserved at least one goal that half. Haven't seen a team stand up like this against Spain since... Italy in the group stages =) I really enjoy the fact that Italy's midfield and defence are confident enough to pass their way out of the Spanish pressure. This is probably the best game I've seen, quality wise, thus far in Euro 2012. Both teams deserve 100% to be where they are and are playing great football.

I'm not sure the olympics count as a major tournament. Perhaps it did back then, who knows.

I feel portugal did a much much better job to reduce the passing midfield than italy.

There wasn't even a European Championship until the 50s and all World Cup's pre 1945 were a bit of a joke as most of the countries from other continents didn't attend. The Olympics is not a serious football tournament.

The Olympics is not a serious football tournament. It was all there was back then. What I'm saying is that teams have dominated for stretches of time before. Either way, it doesn't matter, like I said, because being the best of all time is about being the best, not about winning for a long period of time. There are teams that won the WC once and nothing else that I'd put in the running for best national team ever.
