Sorry this is right, but just cause he wants to avoid the blame for fielding Gomez, Kroos and Podolski this is no reason to blame for the strongest part of the German team this tournament. what has tournament performance to do with the goals today? both were HUGE individual mistakes. hummels played a perfect tournament so far and yet he played a big part in the 1-0. What I mean is Löw is not protecting his players. Any good coach would take the blame on himself, he rather blames individual errors.
TBH, getting turned like that by Cassano when you have two people on him is an error. Although Id rather credit good play on his part I can see how it can be counted as a mistake because it shudnt happen to someone as good as Hummels.
The second goal was pure Balotelli pretty much making something of a cleared/lofted ball. Again Germany getting caught out. Italy really did maximize their chances early on, that was all really.
I think Germany had some nice pressure and scared Italy quite well upto that point and even after they pressured well for a while till they got desperate and semi gave up later on in the second half.
Its like the result forces people to see only the things that went badly.
Naturally when you have to chase the game it gets harder especially against Italy who are really solid defensively and actually play football when they get it.

Congratz to Italy. They scored icecold when the opportunity was given. Well deserved. Germany just played terrible after the first 15 minutes, that's not enough to beat Italy with monster Balotelli.

Such an awful Game by Germany -.- well GG Italy...

Hummels shouldn't be going towards Cassano in the first place.
The right winger should have supported Boateng, but there was NO RIGHT WINGER. <-- mistake from Löw
Second goal came from Italy's left (Germany's right side) too, again there was NO RIGHT WINGER.

Everyone knows this, every player says it in the interviews, why should the coach don't talk about the real reasons why they lost the game. Thank god you aren't coaching a team. Your players would hate you. Sure Low made crappy decisions, but he had nothing to do with Badstuber not even contesting the first goal and 3 defenders letting Balotelli get in front of them for the second.
it was 3 huge msitakes on the 1st goal. first özil just stopped contesting for no reason giving the time for the pass, then hummels totally fucks up opening up the way to the goal and then finally badstuber just not beeing there.

please this is 20 20 hindsight opinion. Italy had no right winger either. It was Chiellini who pushed up and he was covered once he got it. Cassano is a forward on the edge of the box. Are you seriously telling me a centerback shudnt float out to mark someone and close space at the edge of his own D? Really ?

Naturally when you have to chase the game it gets harder especially against Italy who are really solid defensively and actually play football when they get it. The first goal is a chain of individual mistakes - no one attacks Pirlo even though Löw's tactic was hand-tailored to disrupt him (and Özil had just forced him several metres back), no one attacks Chiellini (or is even near him) because Germany has only one player on the right wing and Boateng is required to protect space behind him, Chiellini can pass to Cassano, who comes at full speed and makes Boateng and especially Hummels look like Clowns, and again no one controls Balotelli, who can take a nice header at full speed.
The second goal was not interrupting the pass, but even more Lahm failing to put Balotelli offside. Every German player is almost at the middle line, only Lahm lags a good 3-5 metres behind, and is of course not tall or fast enough to challenge Balotelli to the ball.
And considering claiming it hindsight - I've said before the match that Löw's tactic totally relinquishes the whole right side to Italy, and they registered it and abused it. It's not about hindsight, it's a tactical error, because no one was assigned to keep Chiellini back.

I was hoping for germany too but italy just got it right, their passes were amazing, fast paced, precise really top quality game. congrats italy, i hope they smash spain in the finals now because their play has been really lackluster.

Good game by Italy. The Germans seemed rattled by how Italy was playing.

All the cards go to the Italian team, but always when it matters the referee makes wrong/strange/incomprehensible decisions in favor of the Azurri.
Except for hardliners who go by the motto "the team that wins deservers to win" I don't think anyone honestly believes that Italy deserved this win. Unbelievable...........
Germany hasn't been incredibly effective in front of the goal all tournament. Yea, we scored a hell of a lot of goals, but that's because we've had a massive amount of opportunities. Our conversion percentage is actually pretty low.

Very happy for Italy. I've been rooting for them since I was like 7 years old for whatever reason
Now I'm just eagerly waiting for the final match. I can't watch the games during the week since it's during the afternoon here so I'm happy it's on Sunday!
Buffon and Pirlo ftw!

I mean comon, look at where he passed it from. He was sitting 5 meters ahead of his 2 central defendres. Thats how frustrated he was from not getting touches, I think you can cut them some slack for not pressing him there. Chiellini was wide open yeah, but that about the first time he pushed up and its hard to identify that seeing as its not something he does regularly.
The real mistake if any came on the turn for me. And yea sometimes you get punished sometimes you dont. This was Italy just being better.
And Im sorry but Balotellis finish wasnt something that happens regularly either, but it was a big game moment. Hes had easier chances in this tournament and fluffed them pretty badly (Ramos?). Lahm did aswell as he could after they got caught out, Mario took it early and it was stelar.
I mean its very easy to nitpick after the fact, but you have to see it from that end aswell. But ok if you really need to blame something sure. Portugal had similar oppurtunities. Even the Dutch had similar chances and couldnt take them. Thats the nature of the game you will give chances sometimes you get punished others you dont. The point is to play well enough on balance to win and they couldnt do it today.
After the goals Ill give you Pirlo could work as much magic as he wanted because of the changeup in the system. He has Marchisio and De Rossi absolute beasts supporting him. Hes going to be effective against a thinner midfield for sure.

GG! Congratz to Italia. totally deserved. I wish them best of luck in the finals! They were just 10 times better than Germany today.
Didn had a effect on the outcome but the referees were as bad as the german team. Hopefully Germany will go and beat Portugal again on Saturday

Italy's always a great team, and you should never expect for someone to be a favorite against it, they can suck in the groups, suck in friendlies, suck in prelims but goddamn once they warm up they're on fire.
Absolutely great match today, i enjoyed a lot. The last minutes after germany scored from penalty were just insane tension. Dinamic game, each team played their best, lots of goal opportunities at both sides, little game fragmentation, lots of shots, the game had it all. Unlike the game from yesterday, this was spectacular football.
I enjoyed Germany's play, they tried really hard and i enjoyed seeing Italy not deffending the 1-0/2-0 like madmen.
I just wish the final will be at least half as good as this game was.

It was still like 3x as high as Italy's.
Before today's game Germany had 60 chances and 9 goals, while Italy had 87 chances and 4 goals. Not to mention Germany played against higher class opponents(except Spain), especially in terms of avoiding goals.

Also, DAT pass from Pirlo...holy fucking shit, the one that didn't result in a goal but was insanely perfectly weighted...crazy!!! Amazing to watch.

Germany completely outclassed, as an Italy fan I was never worried for even a second. They could fumble around with the ball in the box and force some corners but thats the extent of it.
|
best players of Germany all tournament: Ozil, Khedira, Hummels, Reus German and Spanish champions.
|
lol 14 corners for Germany while Italy has 0. I don't think I've seen anything like that in semifinal of major tournament. Too bad Germany didn't do anything with it.
