He's got the most genuine passion for the game, the most insight into the metagame, and a great speaking voice. Tasteless - Solid, accessible commentary for the people who don't understand the game on a deeper level. He's lost a little bit of the fire he used to have, but as other people have mentioned, he's done this day in and day out for years. SC wouldn't be the same without him. Chill - Artosis + Chill were an awesome casting team last TSL. I really enjoy Chill's take on the game, because it tends to be slightly different from my perspective. But, the poll is based on ranking the individual caster, and I can't imagine myself listening to just Chill for every TSL2 game. He doesn't have much energy and I would probably end up being bored. Day[9] - Got energy? Got energy drinks? Got BEAR SEMEN?! The guy is definately entertaining, and like Artosis, he does give lots of valuable insight... but... he's too much for me. By the end of his casts, I'm tired of hearing his voice, and I'm worn out. The guy can reach speeds of 500 words per minute requiring you to be ^ this tall before getting on the ride. I think part of the problem is that many of you now take Artosis for granted. He's so active in the community, that maybe we're all too familiar with his style. I urge many of you to reconsider your choices . Artosis is #1 Oh well this guy wrote what i think and explained it better than me.

1.Tasteless - hes my number one hes funny has great knowledge of the game 2.Day[9] - day is just behind tasteless for me he is just as funny of not more, he also has a lot of knowledge of the game only reason hes not #1 is because i have been watching tasteless longer 3.Artosis - artosis has the the most knowledge of the game but isnt as fun to watch 4.chill i never even heard of him before the tsl but i do enjoy his dry humor and he knows what hes talking about
the only downside to tasteless/artosis is they miss so much of the matches key points

First of all: they are overall all good casters. I enjoy all their casts a lot.
Chill is the best for me for live casting. He is the "no-bullshit" caster. Has a voice that does not distract from the action, has a more subtle humor. So there, I voted for Chill, for me an excellent caster.
Tasteless is the second best for me: he got me into following the sc pro-gaming scene in the first place, with the gomtv seasons. The dynamics with lilsusi first and sdm next on gomtv worked very well. I find the pairing with artosis a little less convincing, but still very good.
Day[9] is very energetic, and I love his channel for his post-match commentaries, replay analysis and very deep strategic thinking. As a caster though, it takes me too much energy to follow him, distracts a little bit from the live action. He's still good though, and sees some deeper things that no one else sees. Would leave them for post-game analysis though
Artosis is still good, and I appreciated the "starcraft weekly"; also, I see him very good as an interviewer; as a caster he ends up last in my list, although he is still good!

Chill + Day[9] btw. after the TSL, I'd like to see more TL!Attack

#1 Day[9] #2 Tasteless/Chill #3 Artosis
Day - friendly (!), funny as hell (imho), best player out of all 4 (?), full of funfacts - intelligent, focuses on subtle things, good at explaining and wording his thoughts - quick to admit mistakes and you rarely see him waving his ego around
Tasteless I'm okay with him.. nothing special to me, but since he is in Korea and all, I wish him best of luck with it. He seems pretty calm, confident and cheerful most of the time. I enjoyed his and superdanielman's commentaries a lot, sad that whole gomtv thing ended poorly.
Chill I know the least about him, but, as already stated, his voice is soothing and calm most of the time. He seems to know a lot about BOs and strategies, theoretically. Also seems the youngest of them all (I could be totally wrong on this). Sometimes he just laughs out of confusion ^_^. He's solid imho, I like him.
Artosis .. I don't like so much as a commentator. His huge ego is always erect and visible, I feel and sometimes his commentaries seem flavorless, aside all the bias in them. Don't get me wrong, I think he knows a lot about Terran race and he seems like an okay guy. Just isn't my cup of tea, I guess.

HOW CAN I CHOOSE?!?!? Day[9]. Has to be....

All taken for themselves I'd pick tasteless, but because of tasteless+artosis and chill+day9 I picked day9. Of course you can't change the casting teams, but tasteless+artosis is just a bit too much I think

Tasteless is insightful and energetic but he also tends to make a lot of poor predictions and to suggest a lot of non-optimal strategies/counters. For the uninformed audience, Tasteless is great because his enthusiasm is so catching, and that's probably all that matters. As for me, his commentary in GOM would often make me chuckle but occasionally make me cringe.
Artosis is generally accurate but his enthusiasm sometimes comes off as a little forced or awkward. He also has his notorious biases, which I don't mind so much. One thing that would really improve his commentary is more creativity, especially in appreciating what uncertainty/incomplete information means in Starcraft. He's gradually improved his understanding in that area, but he still seems to appreciate mechanics much more than mind. I was happy with what he had to say today in game 1 (JF vs White-Ra) though, so maybe it will turn out that doing badly in the TL.net "favorite caster" poll was just what he needed to step up his casting game.
Day is really incredible. He has some great creative insight and an eye for subtlety. He has an extremely creative view of the game, and tends to be more accurate than Tasteless. The real hallmark of his casting is how he can spontaneously weave so much information into a cohesive commentary and still find time to blend some humor into the mix.
Don't often watch the stats segment, but when I do it seems pretty repetitive. Would be nice to see fresh hype using more facts about play style, favorite micro techniques, strengths and weaknesses

dont like how artosis keep trash talk... and favourite idra and flame gg.net... in this way it shoudl be quite proffesional

No offense to any of these guys, I love all their commentaries.
8/10 From more experience with Tasteless, Chill, and Artosis, I'm a little biased against Day. He's enthusiastic, sure, but tends to go off on side-tangents, personal 'approval' of play, and isolates the listener a bit if their ears are not accustomed to near-toxic levels of nerdosity. These levels come through in off-game tangents and overall timbre, which, let's face it, is essential. This flaming really is me griping about the casts I've heard during the TSL from him. They're good, but put me on edge while listening. Nothing personal. One thing I should mention is that Day does a GREAT job of bringing the average person in and making them able to listen and understand what the hell is going on without having played iccup or BW for ages. Great trait.
9/10 Next best is Artosis. Clear, brings in background information only when necessary, and sticks to the heart-of-the-matter. Every detail is brought into focus, usually without too much fussing over play not being 'perfect' while relating it to what's happening here and now as the game develops. This man is entrenched in the foreign AND Korean scene so you get every angle on how this game is impacted by player history, recent trends, and find out whether this build is from the day after BW came out. Also, best served alongside Tasteless' commentary.
9/10 Pretty much neck-and-neck with Artosis for me is Chill. This guy is razor-sharp in analysis. As the game unfolds every detail is observed, analyzed, and eloquently vocalized. Even when it gets fast-paced, he does not turn into Klazart but instead focuses on how the result of a skirmish or battle is going to affect the game. I can't stress enough how lucid this guy's commentary is. The only gripe I really have with Chill, and also with Day from their TSL casts thus far, is commenting on and nit-picking seemingly every imperfect play made. Yeah, if they get supply-blocked for more than 5 seconds especially early on, OK. If they choose 'what you consider to be and personally prefer when I play on this map' a different strategy, BO, or building placement, please drop it. That said, Chill's strengths far outshine this nitpicking (of his nitpicking, no less) of mine. For some reason I think Chill would commentate best alone, but he does do a good job making sure the back-and-forth really adds something. He is also very, very Canadian
10/10 Tasteless is best. By far. Besides being the OG imo, he has the best balance. He talks about the relevant history leading up to the match. Then how the map might affect the play, what we might see and what will mean what. He guides the listener only through the important stuff while keeping things strictly tasteless in style (off color remarks, dead-pan humor, what is reality were starcraft, etc) which for me is a plus at this point. When he started off I'd get irritated when things were happening in the game being commentated on while a story was being told of XYZ adventure 2 years ago at WCG. That never happens anymore. Any and all stories stop instantly action heats up because well, we're here to watch action. I feel like this guy has put a lot of work into strictly commentating - watching himself and making conscious improvements. And it shows, not unlike progamers that work hard. I mean, I guess it was his job right? One last thing about the guy is that he stays professional at all times. That incident with Super Daniel Man and Idra? Tasteless was the guy to stop things form falling apart while live. No dissing or taking sides, he knows we're all here for the game.

1. tastless 2. day9 3. artosis 4. chill
|
Day9 Artosis Chill/Tasteless tied Maybe Chill is a little bit higher.. Tasteless made me fall in love with Pro SC through the Gom Tourney cause he was really nooby friendly but now since I know SC quite well, a mix of Day9's comedy and Artosis's insight would be by far the best combo.

Thanks for bringing this up. Tasteless showed a lot of maturity in that moment. He salvaged a very awkward moment and kept the show going. As a side note, there were several occasions when SDM failed to keep his cool and act professionally. The Valor tournament, in which he staged an on-air boycott out of frustration, is a great example.
1. Day9 -- He's dynamic and entertaining, and you can really tell he approaches this game in a very inquisitive and thoughtful way and that translates into his casts with superb analysis of decision-making and the overarching strategies involved. Granted, his cast can get tedious when he's too cerebral, but that happens rarely enough. As a teacher of Starcraft, Day9 is unmatched, and that's why he's #1.
2. Tasteless -- I love him. He has an almost child-like playfulness and folksy sense of humor, which really work together nicely. Some of his schtick is getting old (Panda bear guy not withstanding), and I would like to see him generate some new "material." But all in all, he is the most experienced, professional caster out there and it shows. It's a shame how GOMTV fell apart, but when SC2 comes out, Tasteless' casting career will explode.
3. Chill -- Solid. The perfect "straight man" commentator. Let the wild color dude whoop and holler. He delivers the action by the book and gives savvy strategic knowledge to back it up. I've also noticed he's improved as the TSL goes forward. Really like him.
4. Artosis -- Like some others eluded to, the dude's got an ego which he readily flaunts. Lacks the fluidity of the other casters. Still talented and knowledgeable. Just not my cup o tea. I will say, however, he was most likable during the Idra/Nony rematch when he was riffing with Tasteless. Thought that bit during the Outsider game was fun.

Surprised there isn't more love for artosis. I think they all do a great job though.

Day is by far the best. I don't know why people are talking like energy is such a bad thing. I loooooove the energy. It brings life to the game. It's so much like the Korean commentating too (although I imagine his humor is a bit different -- I just mean in terms of the excitement). And sorry to Artosis, but I like Day's insight better. It's not necessarily that Day knows the game better (though maybe), but that Day does a better job putting some of those key concepts into words. So amazing.
The others do well I think, but Day stands out as the best english speaking caster.

I wish Klazart still casted regularly

Artosis. Does more than give a play-by-play. Day9 takes 30 minutes to watch a 7 minute game.
