Ok, but I was more or less hoping that someone with a report button could report them as I don't have mine yet :/ I forgot to mention that in my original message.

User was temp banned for this post. The same thread we've been talking about this whole page spawns another victim of needless country bashing.

ㅣ미ㅁ the hell why was it set to korean
Anyway, I didn't really expect the Norwegian student thread to spawn that many bans/generally horrible posts. Can people just not refrain from bashing the USA whenever there's a thread involving it/vaguely relating to its justice system?
Oh, and speaking of report buttons, i'm getting mine in under a month. I'm gettin all wiggly.

its not as good as you would think, you just get to see the "this post has already been reported" screen a whole lot

Is it weird if I occasionally have dreams were I get warned/banned from TL?

I really can't stand it when people act like in the US there are daily rolling gun battles in the streets while FBI agents arrest little children for hugging kitties. The US is a big place, the fourth largest country in the world with the third largest population. Yeah, there's some crazy shit that goes on, but it's still pretty rare. I think most Americans, especially younger Americans, aren't exactly happy about the way our government is run. It's not like people were dancing in the streets when our president started a third war, nor are people celebrating the ever increasing authoritarianism of our state in the name of law and order.
So this constant need for Europeans to assert their superiority over the US really makes no sense to me. I'm not sure what the motivation is, whether it's a need to rationalize away some feeling of national inadequecy, or just people being jerks. Whatever it is, these individuals need to get over it. When something dumb happens in Europe, Americans don't fill up pages of the thread with "only in Europe hurr hurr".

You clearly don't remember the discussion following the big shooting at the kid's summer camp. Where tons of Americans decided to get some revenge country bashing in by knocking strict gun control. The same day it happened.

honestly I do think sometimes when I hear it in britain it's just inferiority. Not always, but i think people are jealous of america's importance on the global stage, and so love to hate anything they can about it.
People never articulate that, even to themselves, but i recon it's a factor.

The same day it happened. Or the Amanda Knox thread. Yeah, it really goes both ways. It's just that outrageous stuff made in America tends to receive more media coverage generally and thus appears more often in the TL General forum.

it's a natural, if immature, reaction to throw something back in someone's face when they talk shit on you at every opportunity and then the same thing happens to them. and the point is americans don't fill up every thread about europe with mindless shit-talking about europe or europeans. it happens every once in a while, not with depressing consistency.

Which to me makes no sense at all. It's not like I'm important for living in the US. I'm just another guy. I have thousands of dollars worth of education debt and am under my parents' health insurance because I'm too poor to be able to afford my own. Europeans should be pitying people in the US, not envying us...
