I normally just copy the text and then add quote tags. If you want to get fancy you can add bolded tags as well. So that ban we have

That account was created on 2012-01-11 02:44:03 and had 109 posts.

Although it was already answered, here's a more in depth answer for anyone else. 
You don't actually have to use the quote button to quote someone, you can just copy the text and then add the bolds, time and date and what ever else is needed, and add quote tags either side. You'll end up with a post that looks like this before posting, but which appears as if you quoted it.

If this were to be the case, how many upvotes should it take for a ban to be nominated? I was hoping each season to go for about 2-4 months, giving us no more than 2 or 3 a week on average; I was thinking about 10 or so.

Perhaps it would be best if I select the nominees manually and disregard the whole upvoting mechanism all together? This is up to you of course!

Whilst I love the effort (and the fact that quoted the drunken kennigit spree) this seems awefully complicated. Why not just put the first say ten bans that people suggest in the list and then slowly remove and add as you see fit. It is your thread after all. The desire to be democratic is noble but it would probably lead to this thread getting spammed. We just got rid of the banner I don't want it to return.

Season 1 will be present bans. Between March 13th and the time it takes to get 8 nominees. I'm thinking we'll have a special season that allows for oldie but goodie bans!

Perhaps this is a good idea. The selection process could still be determined by the community with my selecting the nominees along the way. I will add this as an option to the first poll, which would be your suggestion to do away with the whole upvoting thing all together.

Yeah that works perfectly well. I don't want to shit on your parade. I love the idea, I hope kennigit's drunken spree gets on the list. I love how he banned all the guys who would never get banned. It's like he had an itch he just had to scratch and only being drunk made it reasonable.

Those who nominate, could you please provide a brief summary of the people you nominate. Some of us newbies here may not be familiar with them but would like to participate in the process. For example we might know OpticalShot now and he doesnt seem ban worthy, but there must be a history you shoud explain. And to the others who were before our time who we know just because they are mentioned here often, TI, ggnore, tdot, CM (who? seen no account), etc.

CharlieMurphy, a very old very high count poster who was eventually permed for being too bad for too long. (On an interesting aside, when checking that out to confirm that I remembered his name correctly I discovered that I had until now believed that he and Bill Murray, the old time mafia player who was too bad for too long and so was banned from the mafia forum (now unbanned), were the same person. This is apparently not the case.)

Yeah I'm starting to not like it so much now too. Unless I make another thread dedicated to just voting, but meh. Wouldn't be adding any other content to the posts if that was the case, and the amount of low-content/1-liner posts would be overwhelming.
The selection method still needs to be chosen by people though . Could be pretty close between one big poll and a single elim. tourny style.

I wish Grobyc's initiative happened about one year ago. I would have had a legit shot at this with my awesome 1000th ABL snipe. BUTTTTT because this is like the first of its kind (although various threads have made attempts to keep track of the awesome bans in the past) the competition is just legendary (GG.NoRe, CM, fanatacist, tdot, TI##, etc.) and I have no chance at the glory. Boo. On the other hand, I might be the only non-permed-one-account-TLer with something worthy to talk about lol.
