Question for the mods:
Deciding to be an upstanding citizen for once, I was wondering how you feel about people reporting? I want to go and report people, but I feel that it may get annoying to constantly be getting these reports to sift through and I don't want to come off as if I'm backseat moderating or being super tryhard or anything. Is it encouraged to actively report people? I mean, it's obvious that I don't report people who I disagree with or anything -- that's stupid, but I mean general reporting.

That thread is interesting because a number of people think they can speak as if they're the entire TL community. I remember a few weeks ago that I thought Savior should be forgiven, and I got systematically crucified for it 
I wonder how divided the community actually is about the situation sometimes, but I would never consider starting a thread about it. I'd get banned just because I started one of the greatest banfests in TL history

Very, very divided, there are a lot of people (me included) who feel very strongly about savior. I won't say more than that because I *really* don't want to see this thread devolve into a debate about that particular topic.

Yeah the Savior topic is a sensitive one. Personally I don't think he should be allowed to be associated with eSports at all until he makes a better, more sincere, public apology. Meh, not going to discuss this in detail right now. I will add though, that there is no doubt in my mind that he was one of the most brilliant zerg players ever.
On the recent issue of "match-fixing" in SC2 and the "upsets" in GSL Code S Group A, I've seen the comments in Korean portal sites and to be honest, TL is pretty civilized. Maybe civilized because of moderation, or fear of moderation - and sometimes I wonder whether we're moderating too harshly on users (especially low-post users).

I actually seriously hope that thread doesn't devolve into a ban fest. I think it's an important issue that the TL community really does need to have a discussion about. Actually it goes beyong the TL community and is really a larger Esports issue.

That's the problem though (and ty again GMarshal for the links and the writeup.) This seems like such a personal situation for a lot of people that I don't think we can ever really have a discussion over the matter with civility.
Also Optical, I'm with you to a point. new posters definitely have a light shone on them at the start (I was desperately trying to not tread on anyone's toes for my first 100 posts,) but there have been way too many accounts that people make to specifically troll for the mods to take any chances. I don't think they have a choice in the matter.

That's the problem, people are replying based on emotion rather than logic. I think one can make a serious argument on both sides of the issue, but as long as everyone is getting angry and raging, it will sadly end up as pages of red text....
