At Raleigh (I believe it was Raleigh? it might of been Anaheim, and i'm just remembering wrong), Demuslim won the last game of a bo3 with a 1/1/1, meanwhile IdrA lost to a relatively unknown terran. Today, MKP pulls a great comeback (vs IdrA no less) with well-upgraded marines. The LR thread EXPLODES. The LR is left in ruins... Debris, scattered amongst a large area, with a few mortally wounded survivors, begging to be put out of their misery. The moderating team, cleverly seeking refuge in a fridge, re-emerge to lay waste to those who whine. ETT, sporting black shades, spots a survivor in the distance... He's screaming... As ETT approaches, he can make out a few words "3/3... marines... BAGGINS... SHIIREE" Realizing the severity of the situation, ETT picks up the pace and as he is within eyesight of the survivor, who is missing one leg from the explosion, he reaches inside his jacket and pulls out his BAN-HANDGUN... The survivor lifts his head slowly, and upon seeing ETT with his weapon in hand, utters one last statement... What I find most interesting this time is that unlike in previous times it is pretty clearly not a balance issue. MKPsimply had vastly better upgrades; had IdrA narrowed that gap he would have won. On previous patches and in previous metagames some of the balance complaints may (or may not) have been right - 1-1-1 or two-rax or fourgateing or whatnot. Not that that kind of talk is appropriate in an LR thread, or that outrage is ever a productive, positive, or in any way useful sentiment to express. But a moments thought would tell you, looking at the game, the one decision (or even the dozen different decisions) that IdrA could've made to succeed. Hell, the casters were repeating it for the entire end of the game too. Yet the outrage was equal to when it (perhaps) has some justification or cause. I don't know. Its something depressing to be said about the human facility for rejecting what makes us human - our ability to think. | ||
