This paragraph will forever be remembered as "classic Euphorbus" to me: Just because someone on the internet is Dutch doesn't mean they know more about Dutch politics than I do. And even if they know more, that doesn't mean they are right. You probably know less. And if you actually knew more, I doubt it would save you from being wrong.

One can only trust people whose points agree with their personal biases.

Then I'm notified of his history and two of his other accounts - and I could in no way contest the banning of those. But I give him a small defense anyway. And then another 10 minutes pass and during this period of time he makes like 4 actionable posts. And then he's warned. And then 15 minutes after the next time he returned, he's back at it. I think it sucks because I really liked his non-antagonizing posts and would love for him to consistently contribute positively - he seems like one of the most knowledgeable political posters on the forum, he's clearly very intelligent, able to formulate an argument, all the good stuff. But then it seems like every time he's involved in an argument, with anyone, it turns personal. And when that consistently happens with one particular poster, it becomes difficult to pretend that the poster in question is not to blame. If he could drop the bottom 20% of his posts/ those antagonizing lines from otherwise good posts, he'd be an amazing poster, but posters who have been banned multiple times in the past don't get this type of leniency.

If you're the one having the discussion, it's a lot less fun. Ad hominems and condescending posts non-stop. I only had 1 discussion with him and his first posts to me contained the following: That's odd. Are you sure you are using the right words? You can insist you used your words correctly, but if you keep using them the way you do, people won't understand what you mean next time you do it. The meaning of my sentence was perfectly clear fwiw. The discussion then continued and after repeatedly calling me stupid he asked for my background, I provided it, he then refused to believe it and called me stupid some more, then he got banned and the discussion ended. All the while he had dodged any questions from myself/Nony about the actual topic and just gone off on ad hominem tangents. I can't tell if he's trolling and baiting or if he genuinely doesn't know how to have a proper discussion. It'd be interesting to know the names of his other accounts, but I assume you can't share that? Either way I'm on the side of good riddance.

Just because there's no report button on my posts doesn't mean that I'm neither subject to the rules nor unactionable by mods. PM tofu if you have a problem with my posting. But the bottom line is that my posting is fairly clean because I do make an effort to comply with the rules. It's not my fault that there's an endless number of posters who flagrantly break the rules because they disagree with me.
