"opinions are like assholes everyone's got one" and for some reason, on TL, everyone defends their opinion vehemently whether or not they have any clue about the subject. in the end, theres a sea of noise that makes it terribly difficult to pick out smart responses. Half the people are itching at the chance to put in their 2 cents about imbalance (usually unfounded) and the other half are itching to call out everyone else as whiners (without watching the video, reading posts, etc.).
its silly that, when smart players like idra and artosis try as hard as they possibly can to address the issue as objectively as they possibly can, start a shitstorm immediately, and gets the thread locked within 6 hours

I agree. It is really a shame that the thread had to be locked. If you read carefully: there are quite a handfull of intelligent responses in that thread but again drown in meaningless spam and bullshit.
The video itself shows something very interesting. It seems that it is possible to have an intelligent discussion about balance. They walk the fine line of a balance discussion mixed with strategic insights. And they provide alot of backround to the discussion too, so he video helps to understand the game itself better which is one of the main purposes of this site IMO.
The last Artosis thread that was closed (as far as I remember), was a map balance article. Artosis got flamed and trolled so terribly that he had lost his temper and got tempbanned. The irony is that the majority of the community and players now repeat almost the exact same things he brought up before months.
maybe this thread shows that its time for TL to have restricted threads/subforums. Maybe we as fans/readers/posters have to be much more humble and be excited about top analysts and players giving their insights. But I kinda have the feeling that the forum structure or format is possibly outdated.

He sent me a PM explaining why his comment was perfectly fine. Then tells me to look up "freedom of speech" on wikipedia lololol.
Edit - to answer why it wasn't a perm, it was the only post like this he's made, and I could see it being made in a fit of passion (ie, trying to vehemently defend idra). His PM to me basically showed that no, that wasn't the case. He's just dense.
