This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here.

Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue.

Keep it civil.

NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/

Accusations of cheating are extremely serious, if you make them you better include some damn solid evidence supported by reputable analysis. And not in the persons fanclub.

Who's fan club was it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

It was in Nerchio's.

Jeah, really "great job" stream cheating -.- really strange he always blindly hardcountered ForGG's Builds every single game. Even when ForGG didnt play greedy magically Nerchio played a greedy hardcounter for this.

Even the commentators mentioned that Nerchio very often draws attention about him cheating in online-cups and that this strange play really looked he was stream cheating OR maphacking. I never understood why people don't like Nerchio... NOW i finally know why.

Hope no ban for this because it's not ment to be BM or Bias by me, i just wanted to mention what even the casters said about those 4 Games against ForGG in the finals. But i guess that's the bad side of online-cups.

User was temp banned for this post.

if by miracle is right about the commentator, who's the idiot who said taht ?

I highly doubt they said it exactly like that, probably more like: it looks like he map hacks the way he chooses hes builds. I mean I have heard a lot of commentators say similar things when people intercepts drops. They do in general add joking afterwards thou

oh im' pretty sure it's either an extrapolation or a pure lie, especially since Nerchio started to win/do well in offline events the accusations have step down quite a bit.
Zest fanboy.

I bet you Belial will smurf his way back into the community, he is the lord of lies after all.

If I ever made a multi or another account on TL, I guarantee you the name will be obvious (TheRealBelial, BelialLives, that sort of name). I'm too full of myself to try to hide it.

As much as you may not like me, that's fine, but I wish to be a part of this community, not to undermine it. If I have to serve out bans or warns for stupid posts, then so be it. I'd just like to avoid perms, long temp bans and such I can handle. I always learn from the warns/bans too (come on, warned for using big, red, bold text?) so while I have a lengthy warn/ban history, a lot of it is sort of really shit posting when I was new, and then a ton of warns/bans over the years because my moderation history was long and I just tipped barely over the line. It's been made clear that some of the warns/bans I've gotten are specifically because of my moderation history (warned because of misreading a post, for example), but of course, the overwhelming majority of my warns are warranted. Many of my bans/warns also were given to me because of my history, when it would not have been a warn/ban to someone without such a history, but almost all of my warns/bans WERE because of shit posting on my part, of course, I make no argument against my moderation history.

Mostly because of terrible balance posts I made when I was new, and some caster bashing. I think I was silver when I joined, and come on, who wasn't full of racial crap to spout any chance they got when they were in silver league (and zerg 2010? come on). I'm simply saying I made a ton of shitty balance whines and bad posts when I first joined, cleaned up my act, then because of my moderation history, accrued a lot of tough warns/bans just because of my moderation history (not to say they weren't warn/banworthy posts, though). There have been fairly recent posts I've made that just asked for moderation, too, I'm not trying to say otherwise on that (a post about saying "Im not the poster that TL deserves, but the one it needs" for example).

On a side note, I know/knew nothing about routers and networking, but I knew a lot about pc hardware. Just because you know how to build a PC doesn't mean you know how to code. That's literally like laughing at someone who knows how to put together a car, but then doesn't know how to race a car, or how to actually make a car. Building a PC is like putting together lego bricks, it doesn't mean you know the chemistry to actually make a lego from scratch.

The hardcore comment was because I thought a lot of people would try to sell me on wireless, and I knew many of TL people would understand why a wired keyboard/mouse is way better than a wireless one, or that lot's of people have high end rigs but play on low graphics instead of high graphics (like some people do). I didn't think it'd be so funny... but it's because I really knew nothing about routers. I figured wired would be faster than wireless. I'm still not sure if it is or isn't, but the answer I got was very simple - the cheapest router I can find will work just as good as any other.

But most of those were just people being dumb, Belial actively tried to give people idiotic advice under the guise of knowing what he was talking about. His PC Building "guide" instructions on buying motherboards was just a half a page rant about Tawainese made capacitors. I have no idea where that fucking came from, lol. I'm just as a whole very glad to see his ass gone.

I'm not really sure what you are talking about... if you are talking about the strat forum, well, I don't think there's anything particular that I 'know', it's more like very basic stuff. Any masters will tell you , you want hive, more bases, et cetera. I've seen bronzes and diamonds and golds analyze replies just as well as any GM (the difference is basically people either watch the rep, or they don't).

The PC building guide is very basic, and very correct, I don't know what your problem is. The section on motherboards is literally straight from sites like overclock.net, which is linked in the guide, in that section. It can be hard to understand how to correctly buy a motherboard, must people just buy any motherboard, but wouldn't know what motherboard is better than any other. At best, someone could say it's better because it cost more, but if you handed someone 2 motherboards that looked similar, they couldn't tell which is better, unless they knew what was written in that guide.

But in general, I rarely gave advice in the Tech Support forum. usually I was in there asking questions. The reason I joined TL was to post a thread asking for help to build a PC, like a million other, extremely annoying, non-contributing people do.

I decided to be different, and show my appreciation, by giving back what I learned (and I was a VERY discriminating buyer, so I learned a lot). My guide is definitely not the most in-depth, but I do believe it is the best for what it is (budget PC). You don't need to know a lot to build a PC, which is why I was able to write it. I'm no expert, but it's all very basic stuff so it's not hard to write the guide. The difference is that I actually took the time to do it, and yea, do a bit of research on it.

It's interesting that you are 'glad I'm gone', I would think someone would be appreciated for giving back like that. Maybe I should not have even bothered writing a guide and giving back to the community, but instead be like a lot of people who just post once or twice about "HEY DOES THIS LOOK GOOD FOR NU PC?" and never post again. I wanted to give back to TL and the people at TL Tech who helped me.

Unfortunately, he's un-gone. But yeah, it was misinformation, half-baked plagiarism, and somewhere between a poorly executed brag thread and an attempt to make a personal attack on anyone who had the gall to own a better computer than him.

I know we haven't always seen eye to eye Jinglehell, but I'm really surprised you'd say something like this. I think you'd be impressed at some of the contributions I've made in TL Strat. Check out my profile, at some of the guides I've written. Again, I'm no expert at SC2, but I took the time to write out some basic guides. I think for newbs, it's all extremely helpful, and 99.99% of the questions at TL Strat literally is repeated questions by people who don't use the search engine, and for even many non-newbs, people like some CSL GMs and FXO.Slavik, it has given a lot of useful information.

There isn't any plagiarism in any of my guides either. It is all very basic and common knowledge. I just know that personally, I had a really hard time finding this information, and I only found it out after about 2-3 months of asking tons of people on multiple forums, and searching tons of guides and videos. It's literally the only guide on the internet on how to build a budget PC, and does it without saying "yea you should really just spend an extra $100 and get this great value part even though you won't really need the extra performance, its just such a great value yea definitely spend out of your budget for performance you really don't need".

Sc2 is a very basic game in terms of what hardware you need to run it. I don't think it's accurate to tell people to buy intels or 660's when if all they want to do is play SC2 on as cheap a budget possible, and you can easily run sc2 on a rig well below $400 if they just want to play the damn game (200 even, but ill just say 400).

It really sucks when people are not trustworthy when it comes to tech, but act like they know what they are talking about. A lot of people are really clueless when it comes to that sort of thing and they can end up wasting a lot of money if they trust someone who is actually full of shit.

If you check out the guide, no one goes into it and says it's 'full of shit'. It's a good guide. I dont' give advice on things I know nothing about. That guide is still accurate for someone who just wants to be able to play sc2 on a really tight budget. It does the exact opposite, it tells people how to not spend a lot of money.

That's just all I'm going to post here on this matter. Not to have the last word about things, but I hope to change your mind if you view me negatively. You can PM me, and if you think there's any problems with the way I post, hopefully I can improve it. There's no right or wrong here, or argument to be had here, I think it's very straightforward - if you think I post in a way that bothers you, you probably aren't the only person that thinks that, and if that's what they think, then that's just the impression I'm giving, and I can't say you are wrong for how you feel - so I'd like to correct that. I do have a certain way of posting, and I think others have explained it much better than I have:

Looking at the profile of your opponent, it looks like he belongs in diamond due to his activity (got into masters, stopped playing or just clearly sucks, he literally has diamond mmr and then just bonus pool).

You can get away with a lot in low masters. there's a huge skill range from bottom masters and top, as in as large a difference as silver to diamond. You could probably get away with a lot of goofy strats against a bronze, right? There you go.

There's already a discussion thread on hydras in zvt, you probably could have searched, maybe even posted this rep there. I dont see why another hydra thread has to be created. It does sound like you are on to something though, you should probably alert all the pro players that going hydras is way better than what they are doing, if only they were more creative and werent so stuck up. Dont you hate how pro players all do the same thing and never experiment? If only they took the time to try out different strats. You can PM the pro's on TL, most of them will respond to PMs or emails.

but seriously this whole thread is a 'wut?'.

Why do you have to be such an asshole? Like seriously ever post yo make is what seems like helpful advice but is really just you being an underhanded bitch.

Belial is just blunt, and moreso on the hydra issue because it's frustratingly repetitive. Every month someone comes up saying hydras work in zvt, they cite gretorp as a decent source, but it's the same silliness. So belial's not being overly mean, he's saying exactly what I'm thinking, and what I'm sure many other players from diamond up through high masters are thinking, after seeing this thread. Hydras suck zvt and it's been covered to death, and now we can point to darkforce's post (blue! sorry gretorp) on the matter.

That said, it would be nice if one of us bothered to go through the replay, instead of just talking hydras. But the whole problem is that the use of hydras skews the analysis. So belial has a point in insisting on talking about of the terribleness of hydras in zvt, despite OP's stubborn insistence that it works and that he doesn't want to discuss it. It's like going heavy reaper tvz and asking for macro advice, it's difficult to analyze because it's quite different from standard play, and odds are that it contributed, in some form, to this loss.

Really? REALLY? Belial is HONEST. Brutally honest. A huge post to BASH someone? I saw that post. That post, if the player had listened to it, would have been the most useful post he'd ever read on TL. Even him posting those long critiques of OTHER PLAYERS have made me a better player. I would have loved nothing better than to get one from him if I ever thought my play was imperfect.

Christ. That guy was probably the best poster TL had, the guy with the skills to know what he was talking about and the stones to say it straight-up, and this is how he gets treated. I would expect this in a lot of places, but not TL. TL knows the reality of competition. It's hard, and it's tough, and Belial knew that. He didn't pull his punches. After all, your ladder opponents sure as hell aren't going to.

I look forward to seeing another account pop up in the same style, in hope that Belial returns to us again. Because dammit, TL needs MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM, NOT LESS.

I don't even blame the mod who banned him, because you can't let someone get away with forum rules, lest people point and say "But Belial did it!". But I wish the system were set up in such a way that Belial's actions were acceptable. Belial genuinely helped that Terran so much with his "bashing", or at least, provided the Terran with the material to help himself. Only when you realise how terrible you are can you really improve, and Belial was the best person at that that I have ever seen.

The strategy forum is worse for having lost him.

That is all.

You've racked up more warnings/bans in 2012 compared to 2011. Since June 1 2012, you've accumulated 5 warnings, 2 temp bans and finally a perm. One of the bans was for something like this:

User was temp banned for this post.

You know your posting is bad, so why continue like this? Yes, you're a good contributor to the strat forum, but if you were a lot nicer I'm sure you would have gotten that blue background that you so desire. I hope this overturned perm gets you to start posting better.

When so many people are overjoyed at the moment you got permed, you know something is wrong with your posting habits.

I'm not going to be drawn into a potentially derailing argument in this thread, Belial. If you really want to take up why I dislike you, PM me, but I sincerely doubt it would be productive for either of us, and I've been actively trying to get my mod actions per post back down.

Yeah, this isn't worth my (or anyone's) time to respond to. If you want to be dilusional, good for you. It's unfortunate you were let back, but let's be honest; it's not going to take too much longer for you to be permed again. If you didn't learn after the first 27 mod actions, I can't imagine why you would've learned your lesson after the 28th. Enjoy the little time you have left.

While I agree that Belial can certainly come off abrasive at times, I have to say that I'm glad he is back in the forums. For what it's worth, mods, as a random lurker and the rarest of posters, I really appreciate your decision to give him another chance. I've found his posts to be very logical and full of good info for a noobie like me, and the effort he put into the guides to be very commendable. So thank you, and hopefully he doesn't give you any reasons to regret your decision. (Belial - Still give the same advice, just be less aggressive about it!!! Just as blunt, but less *aggressive*.)

Haha, I promise I'm not him. I've removed the bit about the joke because it is offtopic, but I just thought I'd give a little feedback as to the mods' decision, because I thought they might appreciate it. I'm sorry if you disagree with how I feel, but I haven't been around a super long time and don't know what he used to do to get the huge list of infractions and such (I mean, I can look up previous posts, but wouldn't have seen any of it in normal forum viewing, if that makes sense; his past doesn't affect me now). In my experience as a player recently entering the game and looking to improve, I've found his posts helpful and often more substantial than others' while looking at Strategy threads, and just thought I'd share in case the mods were interested in feedback. If they aren't, then I apologize, but don't think it was too outrageous of an idea.

Damn, Kennigit laying the smack down on that scammer:

Blackfoger was just banned by Kennigit.

That account was created on 2011-04-23 08:34:04 and had 81 posts.

The blackfoger ban was expected but nice to see nonetheless. God knows why he thought he would ever be accepted on tl in the first place.

I would love to read why blackfoger was banned. If he is banned for past scams, then he should have been banned ages ago. If he is banned for recent posts, I doubt he broke any TL rules or he is a confirmed scammer this time. Assuming TL is run by some kind of rules/laws, then the reason needs to be clear so that we don't ban a person just because "community/mods don't like him" or anything like that. Maybe the mod tried to be funny with the video, but that's the "reason" section, and the video includes no reason. Blackfoger probably doesn't deserve much respect from the community, but I am disappointed that TL didn't give clear reason to ban him.

Maybe he had been sort of forgotten until this. Maybe they were willing to look past for a while, but then he tries again and that was the final straw. Either way,

Having read and posted several times in that post myself, I personally don't find anything inappropriate in that OP, and 8 days seems very long time before he is banned for that particular post. I am not saying blackfoger should not be banned. I just think the reason needs to be clear.

Oh, I missed that one. That makes sense then ^^. I still feel "We don't like you." should have been included in the reason section along with the video, though.

As the thread went on I think it became hard to not think it's another scam and I though that was the reason for the ban. It could be the "we don't like you" rule though I suppose. Like, he had 70k to dump in to that project (after claiming he was getting money from sponsers and wasn't) but was going to use proft from the team to clear up debts from previous sca-err-mistakes. Why not clear them with some of that money? Why lie in the first place? With a history like his there was no way he could be that loose with the truth on so many things and not get read as another scam, even if he is completely legitimate this time.

Oh, I missed that it was that post that he was actually called on...I thought it was for this one. Yeah, either way, I think it is like the standing ban for admitted hackers or cheaters. Sometimes it just takes awhile for someone to get around to them. Also, I am sure that there are mod/admin-only forums and IRCs where they talk about some of these for a while and debate back and forth a bit. Yeah, sometimes more clear arguments would be nice, but in this case if you are interested, ask in Website Feedback. They are usually good for some kind of response.

Yeah, also quite often a thread comes around and it takes a bit for the scam or truth or whatever to become evident. Then the ban will come later when those facts become clear.

I don't think posting a video of Gollum saying "Leave now and never come back" equates to something along the lines of "oh we like you as a person but sadly you broke x rule", you know?
