I found it very amusing however how insanely defensive he got at legit issues and criticisms that people have raised with regards to MoW and how they handled the situation, and even more amusing how apparently in his mind insulting MoW is the same thing as insulting Poland and the Polish esports scene.

for the last part it's the same everywhere, 99% of the the french are overly defensive about anything related to stephano ect... national pride is blinding so many ppl (you just have to look at the average post of a polish in a MoW thread...)

When only 3 out of 20 posts on a page are from people who aren't banned, it makes me think the problem isn't people ignoring the mod note, but the mod note itself. It's kind of hard to talk about violence in the middle east without mentioning religion, particularly when that violence was possibly instigated by an anti-religious video.

I think that mod note seems fine. It says not to argue about religion. You can mention one of the political blocks is religious in nature, if that is a fact. You can also speculate about that block being responsible.
If you directly argue it is the religion that is responsible (as a whole) you will get banned. Or am I not understanding it?

KwarK was in a bad mood yesterday about the whole thing. I think anything even mentioning "God" or "Jesus" outside of an obvious exclamation would've been grounds for a ban. On that topic, on that day, and probably today as well, it was not worth mentioning even in the way you suggested.
There's a time and a place for that discussion. But not in that thread, and definitely not yesterday.
