This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here. Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue. Keep it civil.NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/ |

yay Grobyc is still around =3 I dunno it seems like bm has slowed down significantly since the 2010 days, good thing for the community but bad if your looking for hilarious ABL posts.

Additionally, if you've never had it, you're not active enough. I really don't understand this attitude that getting banned is just part and parcel of being active on TL. It seems to be a common idea, but I've been here for over a year, I post a lot, I argue with people I disagree with, I criticize the mods when I feel it's appropriate to give that sort of feedback, and I have yet to receive so much as a warning. The rules around here are pretty easy to understand; they basically boil down to Wheaton's Law -- don't be a dick.

The initial wave of sc2 was good times to be sadistic when it comes to other people getting banned :p
Even if I admittedly was part of the guys getting 2days

I'm pretty sure his affirmation on the staff is true based on what I remember reading, but not having access to mod ressources and not being old enough... Oh yeah, and that's not exactly the same problem, but I must say that when I saw Incontrol on the banling list I raised an eyebrow, even though I liked his posts a lot... And I'd guess I'm not the only one.

I wasn't around back then, but spent some time digging around old threads.

Why follow bad examples though? I have 12k+ posts and have never been banned or warned. Being banned or warned isn't part of being on tl, its part of screwing up, there's nothing *wrong* with screwing up occasionally, it happens, but that doesn't mean that its required to be part of the community ^_^

Every time I read someone say this, I think about the part of Bill Cosby's "Himself" performance where he's describing people who seem to think that "having a good time" requires getting so drunk that you're sleeping with your face on a public toilet inbetween bouts of puking your guts out. Both are examples of a lack of self-control or of sufficient maturity to recognize the mistake that you're making, combined with a sort of delusional belief that self-destructive behavior is actually where all the fun is.

But getting a little tipsy is always fun though, so a few warnings/bans here and there would, according to your analogy, be fun right ;-P?

In my experience you can actually go pretty far on TL without getting moderated. I'd say by the time your behavior warrants a warning or a ban, you're at least to the point where you're hitting on the hot chick without realizing you didn't get all the puke out of your hair.

What if you still score with the hot chick, maybe you have serious game. Or she already slept with Chill. You have to consider all of the possibilities.

If he got banned while/for banning someone that would be incredibly meta.
Has anyone ever been nuked for a post in a mafia game?

@anacletus: Sure, happened to FourFace probably a month ago. It wasn't just because of that post, he was a pretty bad poster over all. Too bad, he made finding lazy scum stupidly easy.
