I've only had a couple of chances to talk to him (though I once spent hours talking with his mom, long story) but the guy's genuinely warm and friendly and cares deeply about what he's doing. I think some people just can't get their heads around that someone can be the way he comes across in his dailies, so they assume it's all an act. Not to mention that as he's gotten busier and his show has gotten more popular, he has a lot less time at events and so on to spend interacting with fans, so the counter-story about how he really is with people has less opportunity to catch up with the unsubstantiated idea that he's not being himself. It probably hasn't helped that he has been making a visible effort (sometimes not very successfully) to manage his image in certain ways. Most of this is probably a result of his position requiring that he keeps a very large and varied set of constituents happy with him, and that's totally understandable, but I think it's a huge leap from that to calling the guy insincere. For many in the community, though, things are a lot more black and white, I guess.

Karioha was just banned by p4NDemik. That account was created on 2012-07-11 05:51:41 and had 10 posts. Reason: Some days you we log on TL to see a list of over 20 outstanding reports. As you begin it doesn't seem so bad, but then traffic hits peak hours and that number is no longer going down, instead it is still rising. As you can imagine the effect this has on a moderator is quite taxing. We all think, "Should I continue clearing reports or should I quit now saying 'I've done my fair share today'?" But no, you put your head down and power on until you are down into the teens, then eventually single-digits. After all this one stumbles onto your posts and I want nothing more than to write "FUCK OFF" and be done with it. But no, I must remain composed and continue on with calm, cool and collected explanations of why you no longer belong on this site. So, without further ado: P.B.U. Oh god I was on the edge of my seat.

He is not that bad, but because of his status people give him the most shit over the tiniest little things. It is that need to pick on someone big to make themselves feel better I think. Really, Day9 isn't perfect, but he loves the game, loves the community, and has always tried to do things for it (us). It just bugs me that people pick on him so much when he is obviously one of the most caring guys we have and an example of someone to hold up and show our side to the outside world.

It is true, but it does not make it right in the end.

It just seemed like somebody started a bandwagon on him in the past year. I never really follow the SC2 community that closely.
