Did you play the 3rd one? If yes, what do you think about it?
I've heard that it was really not as good as the first 2 and I've avoided playing it because of that.
I'll try not to spoil as much as I can Yes, DD isn't as good as GS1 or GS2 but comparing against the first two is setting the bar extremely high (although in fairness, I do prefer DD over GS1 :3 but GS1/2 are really a package deal imo). There's a few reasons why DD is inferior to the first two:
Points of no return There are 3 points of no return in GSDD which annoyed a loooooot of people. Lot's of people played the game thinking "I'll just miss stuff on the way and collect things that I missed later" so when they found that they couldn't, they raged. With that said, I think they make perfect sense because if you think that GSDD is actually two games in one (i.e. like considering GS1+2 as one game) then the points of no return make sense. For example, GS1->GS2 was a "point of no return" for the first two games. I'll concede that the points of no returns are annoying, but I can kinda understand why they're there.
I'd say that GSDD is pretty similar in structure to GS1/2. I've put the PONRs lined up against similar points from the first two games: + Show Spoiler +
Lack of development of final character Despite how OP the final character is (in a speedrun sense ) s/he is extremely under developed storywise. You basically meet him/her, prophetic vision happens into "I must join you" ... and that's pretty much it. Now if you're familiar with the lore from GS1/2 then you'll know a small bit about this characters backstory but that doesn't make up for the lack of development within the game. The second to last character you get is somewhat under developed as well, but there's enough carry over from GS1/2 + in game stuff to make him/her passable.
Game Difficulty GSDD is pathetically easy. To give you an idea, in a speed run we don't get any armour items except the elven shirt. And if it wasn't easy enough, there are some monsters right at the end of the game that give insane amounts of EXP so that grinding levels is very easy. With that said, the game difficulty only drops off in the last 20% of the game -- the first part of the game is somewhat challenging (particularly the first boss ...). I think that if the last 20% of the game was much more difficult then the games reception would have been a lot better. Note that there are super bosses in this game as well, which is kinda nice
Characters Some people were annoyed that... (1) You can't play as Isaac/etc (you play as Matthew, Isaac's/Jenna's son). (2) You only meet Isaac/Garet out of the original 8. (3) Sheba is literally mentioned twice in the whole game, not even in the main game, just in the encyclopedia. (4) Very little information in general is available on the characters from the previous game.
That said, I think there are a lot of really cool things about the game that I don't think get enough credit.
GS1/GS2 tie ins There are a lot of really cute GS1/GS2 tie ins. If you do play DD, brush up on your GS1/GS2 lore
Puzzles There are some really awesome puzzles and dungeons. While the puzzles aren't necessarily too difficult (fucking insight ._.). Lunar tower is probably one of my favourite dungeons in the whole series, even after speedrunning this game. Phantasmal bog is also another excellently designed dungeon.
Summon animations They're reallyyyyy good. Each djinn gets its own design as well.
It's definitely worth a play if you enjoyed the originals, it's a good game -- just not the strongest title in the series.
Do you think you guys will ever add a LoL Forum? If the rumors of OGN doing a LoL ProLeague is true, it would be nice to talk about it somewhere official-like. Or are you married to Dota as your only MOBA?
You've probably been asked a lot so I apologize for asking again, but I can't find anything.

question for plexa mainly I played the game and I'm at one point where I literally cant figure out how the heck to advance so I stopped playing after running around the temple place for like 5 hours. does this make me a failure at life?
oh and general to whoever knows the answer are you still taking writer applications? I was planning on filling one out but with finals next week I haven't had time to finish it and want to know if its still worth finishing.

No. You probably just overlooked something really basic http://www.twitch.tv/tl_plexa/b/385414726 if you want to see the game completed fast haha. Find the bit where you got stuck (if you have a description I can probably work it out) and then face palm when you realise it was so simple all along!
