What's your favourite monopoly piece? While you are at the subject. What is your favorite board game? Hm. Maybe Axis and Allies. Or Settler of Catan with a ton of expansions. Or maybe combining Axis and Allies with Settlers of Catan I like complicated board games. But monopoly always got me really depressed as a child. Something about the very long drawn out death as you slowly sell off your hotels, and houses after mortgaging every last other non-set piece of property. in axis and allies, as japan, do you immediately attack pearl harbor?

We used to, but then we figured out that on US's turn, they could take every last ship and plane and usually sink every last battleship as they always wound up unprotected. Totally worth trading transport, airplane and bomber to sink the 2 battleships and aircraft carrier. Really hard for Japan to replace that fleet. We played it enough that, we had shifting strategies. Would meta-game shift be the correct use of the term?
Before everyone quit for Settlers, the most dominant strategy for Japan was to keep the fleet at home and strike out by land and try to gut USSR. Going after China and India was too slow. You needed to drain USSR fast so Germany could crush it and turn around to deal with UK. (I usually played Axis or else USSR.)
Edit It was pretty fun, because you'd have these trends of Allies always winning. And then, you'd figure out the counter strategies and then the Axis started winning, then it would switch back. At the end, Axis had the dominant strategy, but my theory then, was that US needed to abandon the Pacific and go full on D-Day on the east coast. Never really got to see it in action as US was usually played by the new guy. (Easiest one to play.)

Did you ever invade Canada? I love doing that as Japan.

I'm sure we did in the earlier years when US and Japan used to duke it out for ultimate power on the Pacific Ocean. Use Alaska as your beachhead, ferry units back and forth and all that. The greatest difficulty was that UK could afford to take the momentary hit and US could easily conquer it right back.
I always wanted to have a successful Rommel and gut British income in Africa. But it was so difficult to divert enough troops into Africa without then losing Western Europe to the UK after a couple turns when you were also preoccupied with USSR.
Edit It would've been nice if we could've somehow gotten the special technologies more regularly, but you had to be so very efficient with your income. Except maybe the US or UK. USSR needed every penny for tanks and infantry. Plus if you got super-subs for the USSR :S

If you enjoyed it I suggest you watch other movies like The Chaser I'm a Cyborg but that's OK The man from nowhere

My favourite Monopoly piece is the dog (terrier, I think?) and my favourite board game, if we're allowed card games too, is Lunch Money.

also, seconding zatic's recommendation of eXistenZ: freaky sci-fi story with plenty of twists

Favourite romance novel? If not, favourite book that isn't a series!

My favourite romance is probably Don Quixote, my favourite book that isn't a series is difficult, but I'm a huge fan of Flann O'Brien's The Third Policeman.

When will we see more fantasy GSTL leagues coming up? I never had a chance to play in a fantasy starcraft league but i really want to! Are there currently any plans at all for this?

Interesting books! I hope I can find the time and money to read them

In high school we somehow managed to play a lot of very long board games. I might have played one or two games since graduating, but it's harder to commit the time or find people that would play such a long game rather than Settlers or Dutch Blitz.
Favourite movies that know one has heard about. I think all my favourite films are rather popular. And the interesting ones that are more obscure, I've watched because I was frequenting the TL suprisingly good films thread. (Ink for instance is not a favourite, but I like the concept, but I know about it through TL.) Maybe Mo Gong/ Battle of Wits? Depends how familiar people are with foreign films. I quite like smart battles.
I'm not sure I've read a proper romance novel. Using the classic defintion, I guess I have Ivanhoe sitting on my shelf, but I haven't read it yet...
And Firefly... I love it.
