The challenge has been done before. The things I'm adding to it (sc2 wins and pull-ups) don't significantly effect the difficulty of the running and drinking combination. I'll be doing everything I can to mitigate the strain I'll be putting on my body. My wife is a 4th year medical student and she'll be with me the whole time and we're using our collective knowledge and resources to research and prepare as best as possible.
The main reason I'm not worried is that I'm not going to keep drinking if it feels like it's going bad. I'll simply do the rest of the challenge and say "well, turns out I'm not a good enough drinker to complete this challenge, gl to the next guy"
Atm we have a rough estimation that I'll be accumulating 1/3 of a drink per hour, so I'll finish with about 8-9 drinks in me. If you've had 12 drinks in a 5 hour period, then you've been as drunk as I will be. My BAC should not get to levels that an ER would find extremely dangerous. But of course when combined with the exercise and perhaps my refusal to sleep when my body wants to sleep, it gets more difficult. I'm gonna go into it fully rested, I'm going to stay hydrated as well as possible, and I'm going to supplement my alcohol and doughnuts with as much nutrition as possible.
I appreciate the legitimate concerns but I hope to convince you that I'm aware of all of them and that I'll be taken care of and I won't force myself to finish if it's going bad, so that you the viewers can relax and enjoy rather than worry. Thanks! :D I'm glad you've planned out well, but my concerns were directed more at other people who might try to copy you and participate in the event (since it is worded as a challenge) who might not know what they are getting into.
Blame me for that. I worded it as a challenge, he worded it as something he was going to do for himself. I would feel bad if I gave a bunch of nerds the idea that killed them. Don't kill yourself nerds!

Not to go all frat bro on you, but I have a bit of experience with the alcohol part of the challenge. In college we did a day every year where we (most of campus would try...) would try to drink 24 beers in 24 hours. On paper it's easy: your body processes out about a drink an hour, so one drink an hour, on paper, sounds easy. Believe me; its not. 24 beers in 24 hours is insanely, stupidly, crazy, outrageously hard to do. Anyone that tells you otherwise has never tried it. My only advise would be, if you aren't set on doing only beer, make the drinks something that will hydrate you (or at least not dehydrate you). Vodka and gatorade might be a trashy abomination of a cocktail, but it will keep you hydrated. Best of luck.

Hmmm, sounds like one of those things you have to experience to believe like 6 saltines in a minute. I mean, I've drank 12 beers in a few hours on some nights and wake up like a peach the next morning (I don't get hangovers). I feel like if I woke up I could do the rest within the 24 hours.

Hah if you want another Gatorade + alcohol combination, try it with tequila. My friends continue to make fun of me for making a gatorita in desperation one evening, but I thought it was decent. For the record it was the red one, fruit punch, with silver tequila.

This reminds me of the 100/100/100 challenge. You get 100 hours in which you must drink 100 shots/beers and run 100 miles. The watered down, but still challenging version is run 100 miles and drink 100 shots/beers in one week.
As a former 800/1500 guy the running should be no big deal for Tyler. Break it up into a double of like 17/9 or even Kenyan style triple of 6/10/10 and it's not bad at all.
Krispy Kreme donuts probably aren't going to make you feel so hot, but if you just use them as a primary fuel source it shouldn't be too awful; plenty of college kids eat this shitty on a regular basis, and if your diet has been sound beforehand I don't see the donuts raping you too hard.
The starcraft winning should be reasonable, especially if he does the playing in the morning/afternoon when he is most fresh.
Pull-Ups...i got no idea. Not sure how recovery over time affects those, i.e. if you do pull ups maybe 15-20 in one hour, can you come back again in an hour or two and be close to fully recovered?
The alcohol I'd do some light drinking during the day, and then hammer it hard towards the end. If you got in 10 drinks in the first 14 or so hours, that gives you 10 more hours to get in 16 drinks, which is reasonable when that's all you have to worry about.

Not to bash you or anything but a pack of 24 isnt to much if you consume alcohol occasionaly. Tyler is a smart guy and knows what he is doing and he know when to stop. Alcohol gets hard to drink if your not actively drinking water. Lil faith in the man please

Woah you just went frat bro on a guy who wasn't trying to go all frat bro. I am also thinking a 24 pack might be a lot.. how much does Tyler weigh anyway? In shape at his height I wouldn't say anything over 170?

Is Tyler drinking 26.2 standard drinks (easy) or is he drinking 26.2 beverages (hard)? I don't know what American alcohol is like but over here there are usually 1.4 or 1.5 standard drinks in any beer or pre-mix so drinking 26.2 beers would actually be drinking 39 standard drinks and talking as someone who has done that in a single night - that shit hurts and most people can't do it even without all the extra strain on the body that Tyler is adding on top.

Tyler just confirmed that this is still going down on state of the game. I'm practicing right now by watching a stream and drinking a beer.
Anyone else getting ready?

Scrap that, and replace it with something else, and its definitively doable. Rofl, are you insane? you dont need to be a pro athlete to do 262 pullups a day... I'm not a pro athlete, and i can do atleast 4 sets of pullups with 15-20 repetitions each in 10 minutes. So doing 262 pullups in 26.2 hours = extremely plausible. Give it 1 hour and 262 pullups will be done, with time left aswell. 15-20 repetitions of ![[image loading]](http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_la8lnuMM0w1qe9krio1_400.png) sure that's possible 15-20(consecutive) pull-ups ![[image loading]](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Pullup.gif) no way that you will be able to do 15-20 in a row, even less likely that you will be able to do 15-20 reps times four... Pull ups are not that much harder than chin ups.
15-20 are definitly possible if you are in a decent shape. I mean the top rockclimbers can do pull ups with only one finger lol. However 26x10 will be pretty hard. You will get really tired after a couple of reps, and it becomes exponentially harder.

Where I life there is a yearly challenge to walk/run and drink beer. It's 2 guys have to carry a cage of 20 (0.5l) bottles of beer over 20 km and a drink all during, at the end or before... Ya i's only 5l per person and 20km is not 26.2 miles. But the time is way shorter as well, because of competition. What I want to say: this is not that terrible, esp when you are outside at the fresh air.
Brain concentration should get way harder. Everyone ever played drunken on a LAN, should know that ;o) So winning 26 games should not be underestimated. But well when you lose enough the opponents get easier^^
Keep good hydration...

This is awsomely sick. I'll try to get some friends together to do the SC2/alcohol/donuts part of the challenge.

Beer, donuts and exercise... I hope you guys have heartburn medicine

Ha, <3. I stand by my comment that 24 in 24 or 26.2 in 26.2 is crazy hard, and accusations to the contrary are bourn out of inexperience. That's just a lot of brewskis, brah! + Show Spoiler + I am so excited for this.

You guys realize that no human can consume that many crispy creame donuts and that much alcohol while exercising and not get sick. Hes going to be vomitting by hour 10, calling it now.
