Comparing Dota to Starcraft - Frequently paying attention to the minimap (and the text announcements like kills) is a good thing to do. Calling mia every time heroes are gone (after your team gets 4 kills for example, etc) seems a bit drastic to me. Edit - Of course, I know giving your team all the info is also a good skill to have in pubs... but if so many pubplayers claim they are so great at the game (most pub players claim), they should know how to pay attention to the minimap and know not to stay far away after your team kills 4, and most of them are missing for a while >.>. | ||

I think you're misunderstanding. You should obviously always pay attention to your minimap, and anyone who doesn't do it, while someone runs through 3 wards to gank you, and you start whining about ss, its on you. BUT, a lot of the times the enemy hero can be so frequently hiding in the fog of war, either trying to grab xp without being harassed or pulling the creep camp. Only the ones in the lanes really have the insight to know how long he should be gone, and when to call ss. Someone on the complete opposite side of the map can't know that after 20 sec of "missing", you should start running back because he might be ganking you instead of pulling that creepcamp. This is even more true in the middle lane at night, where often times the only indication that the enemy hero is still there is ranged attacks coming down the ramp trying to lasthits the creeps. Anyone not always paying attention to the mid can't know if he's missing or not, as he will never have shown on the minimap to begin with. Pluss, like you said, there is absolutely no reason for your teammates to be complete dicks and not communicate in a frikkin teamgame. | ||

___________ I was in this game against a clan (well 4 clan members and maybe a random). We weren't doing so well at the beginning (they started tri-laning at the top and denying me and another from farming). (Of course that meant no one was actually preventing faceless void from farming bottom!) (I denied the first blood though! ...until they got a FB 3 mins later that is.) Anyway, we weren't doing so well at first but we started catching up and winning all in 5v5 fights. Eventually our team farmed up a lot of good items while their team didn't really have that much (besides their Ursa and Tidehunter). Only their Ursa could actually do anything (the rest couldn't really do any damage, Ursa was their only carry). Pushed two rax, then we start the third (the top one). I was behind (I died the latest in the last encounter and spawned the latest). Their team kills most of our team. Then we lose. So long story short - Play it safe if you're winning >.>. Also at times it's probably best to just go straight for their main building rather than going for mega creeps (especially at the 70 minute mark when your team farmed enough items to take down the main building in seconds). The worse part was it was against a clan. If it was any other game, I wouldn't mind a lost like that. This was group of random pub players, random people united... vs a group of prepared people (clan). That group of random pub players almost won... . Also yes, I've played against clans before and won plenty of times before (though other clans I played against didn't tri-lane or do other fancy stuff early on like this one did). Basically this one seemed a bit more organized and prepared than most. Edit - Another reason for the disappointment of losing that is because it would have been an epic story if we won. Now I only have an epic story about how we almost won (and everyone knows "almost winning" doesn't count for anything >.>). | ||
