Recently upgraded my CPU from 3600 to 5600 and the strangest thing occurred. Whenever I plug in my headphones on the cases audio jack or on the motherboard audio out jacks the headphones are detected and show as if sound is being received, but nothing can be heard through them.
Current set up is -
5600
B450 Tomahawk Max - American Megatrends International, LLC. 3.D0, 01/04/2022
32gb Crucial 3200mhz ram
1660S
I've tried a number of things to try and fix this but I'm having no luck.
Tried second pair of headphones - Still no sound
Checked audio settings and the headphones are not disabled
Messed with settings in sound - Spacial sound and enhancements on/off
Uninstalled audio drivers and re-installed
Updated B450 Chipset to most recent
Downloaded most recent audio drivers for motherboard
Fresh install of Windows 10
Reseated CPU
Replaced CPU with different 5600
When I installed the CPU bios reverted to Legacy and I had to convert it back to UEFI but the problem persisted in both settings.
I can only guess that it is a hardware issue with the B450 and the 5600 but not sure why this would be happening or whether it can be fixed
Again, the sounds appear to be coming through but just nothing can be heard.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and happy to provide more system details if needed.
