Intermittent slow internet, high ping over wireles

taldarimAltar 973 Posts June 13 2014 10:03 GMT #1 I'm on Windows 7. I use a USB dongle wireless for my desktop because I can't have wired. My computer's connection would get really slow for about 5 minutes, but my phone and tablet connected to the same router are unaffected, same sites and everything. It just started happening today, the only thing I did was to update windows. It'll be ok for a while then suddenly pages don't load. I opened command prompt and did "ping google.com" and the pings were around 1k-2k ms, I kept pinging then it dropped back down to 7 ms which is what I normally get, internet was back to normal. But it keeps happening. I have a feeling it might be the ethernet adaptor on my motherboard. Using an ASRock H61M U3s3

Cyro United Kingdom20326 Posts June 13 2014 17:13 GMT #2 If you're using a USB dongle, then your motherboard ethernet is not relevant, it's probably down to stuff like signal strength or maybe drivers/settings etc
