Cyro, you did an analysis on sc2 and microstutter. You mentioned that it is easier to notice at higher framerates. As hardware improves over time, will microstutter become more and more of a concern for new pc builders/players?
It's more of just.. when you're fighting with 40fps the experience is pretty bad anyway. It's less obvious if it's a lot worse than it's supposed to be.
If you have 120fps and your game plays like you have 25fps at times, it's extremely annoying
Is there any data about what kind of gpu is necessary to run sc2 at 4k/60hz+? How does increased resolution scale with sc2, considering the aspect ratio is the same?
As long as aspect ratio is 16 : 9, it'd just show the same game area but more pixels. For performance, game is pretty GPU light, i'm not sure for max settings but something like a 760 should run ~med fine

Here ya go.
CPU Board RAM GPU HDD Case PSU
Comes up to USD 812 without taxes and OS.
If you have money to spare, add an SSD to install your OS on.
Hope this helps.

Core i7 2600 requires socket LGA1155 (H61, H67, P67, Z68, B75, H77, and Z77 motherboards). It will not work in a Z97 motherboard.

You have a core i7 2600 so get a H77 or B75. Motherboard doesn't make a noticeable difference in gaming.

slight problem now... my internet speed is 1mbps which makes downloading everything i need a pain in the ass.. getting a replacement in 2 week so i shall update when that happens.
everything looks so big now, i used to use a laptop since i started playing games 7 years ago.
the setup came with many cds, from gpu to monitor. do i have to install all the different drivers? also, is teracopy and ninite worth downloading?
|
For basic use, all you need is most recent drivers for the GPU, which you should download from Nvidia. The other drivers can be useful but aren't necessary. For example, the drivers on the CD that came with the motherboard will give you drivers for the LAN chip, or the drivers for the integrated sound. Nice to have, but not mandatory to use your PC. Only the GPU drivers are mandatory.
Ninite can be really useful if you have lots of small programs you want to install quickly (VLC, a decent browser, winrar, etc). Teracopy is good if you have lots of large files that you want to move quickly, I guess. I've personally never used it.

memory on front page should be updated to 16gig for professional usage imo. just upgraded from 8 gig for coding and music.
Made a noticeable difference (i hate any form of paging ;p)

Ninite can be really useful if
I'd have a hard time finding a situation on a new build for any normal PC user that www.ninite.com would NOT be extremely useful for. I've never even used it but i have heard of it being used and the knowledge that it exists makes my heart warm

Before I knew of ninite's existence, I had all the install files for chrome, vlc, steam, winrar, gpu drivers, etc saved on my external HDD. :p

adobe air? never heard of it. I have adobe reader and adobe flash. Should I install air too? Are all runtimes applications "must have" ?
|
You don't need any of the runtimes. Well you probably need .Net if you do some gaming.
|
So, what does Ninite get out of this? It looks to be pretty sweet, but I have a nagging factor of "how do they offer this without running afoul of licensing issues" and "is it sneaking a RAT in there?"
It does look glorious though.
|
What licensing issues would there be? They're just like merging all installer.exe's and hosting it.
They do have a subscription
