Hello guys,
i've finally get my new PC (i5-3570k, GTX 660 2GB, 8 GB RAM), SC2 runs just fine on that rig. But, yesterday, while i played the game, the PC restarted and said the following text:
"Power Supply Surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit!"
(this thing happened 4 times til today)
My PSU is quite a good one (Chieftec 500A8 - 500W), it should be enough to handle my PC. I figured that out, that ASUS mobo has a feature, called "surge protection", and this one started over my rig.
(My temperatures are fine; the rig is brand new, so there is no dust. )
Can I turn off this stupid feature? Im really afraid that turning this stuff off will damage my PC, and i really dont want to do that.
Regards, ScrApeD

I dunno man, if my motherboard was telling that the PSU is faulty i wouldn't take that advice lightly. Can't you RMA it/buy a replacement? I wouldn't risk a PC costing hundreds of dollars on a single part that costs about 50 which is able to fuck everything up.

I've heard of the asus surge protection feature being over sensitive and triggers when it shouldn't. Also chieftec power supplies are made by delta electronics if that helps you.

This one is CWT according to this list: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page873.htm

Few things to check, what all is on the circuit with the computer? Is the ground working as intended? Some things like a window air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave can cause wattage surges as they kick in.

Is your computer plugged straight into the wall or are you using a surge protector?

Asus anti surge protection feature does this quite often, without there actually beeing a problem. The motherboard cant even measure the incoming voltages reliably, so the feature is very unreliable. Disabling the feature in the bios will fix your problem.
However, there is a possibility that the powersupply is not functioning properly(every bad feature is right once in a while afterall). That in it self should cause your system to become unstable, and if it gets really bad it could damage other components.
My advise would be to get a proper multimeter and measure the voltages (or let someone else do it). If you dont want to for whatever reason, you could just disable asus anti surge and see what heapens(small risk). If your system has no stability problems, antisurge was wrong (most likely). If your system is unstable your powersupply should be replaced/repaired.

I would definately question the PSU if it was restarting etc
