Hi Guys,
So i broke my right wrist 5 days ago and i now have a full cast to just before my elbow. I can now move my fingers without pain and can rest them on a mouse, except the cast hits the back of the mouse so i cant comfortably use the mouse - it's pointless to play hon/cs etc. like this. I have zero control.
My question is - is there any short mouses out there that will allow me to use it without my cast getting in the way.
I know this is a weird topic, however, i am sure someone else on here has also broken their right wrist and had issues playing games.
Any help/ideas is appreciated.
Cheers Ashby

Coolermaster Storm Spawn? Claw/fingertip monster. Short, light
Keep gaming like a boss!¬

Look at the CM Storm Spawn.
I've only seen the CM Storm Xornet which has the same shape as the Spawn. I think the shape would be very good for you. It's a very short mouse. With the fingers stretched out and fingertips on the mouse wheel, it ends at the knuckles for me. The mouse is also very flat.
The Xornet's sensor is probably very bad for you. It seems perfect at 500 dpi, seems suspicious at 1000 dpi and is pretty bad at 2000 dpi. Playing with just the fingers would be impossible like that, I guess. The Spawn supposedly has a better sensor for high DPI.

Get an ambidextrous mouse and use your other hand. Edit: yes, I realize this means you will be unable to play video games effectively.
Don't mess with the healing process.

Don't mess with the healing process. omg yes. Take a break, and once your doctor tells you its ok, then you can return (also be doing PT for the wrist before you start gaming again, not definitely not immediately). The last thing you need are complications from using your wrist too soon after an injury like this.

Lol.. or just let the cast do its job and help saving your arm from being healed wrong and rest it?
let me give you a fast story, my brother broke both his wrists at the same time, he had casts on both his arms and even so he played games and stuff, his bones healed wrong, so you know that "ball" you have around your wrists? dunno whats it called, but he can twist it anyway he wants and place it where he wants, and he cant lift to heavy things without his wrists hurting
so you should be careful and let the cast do its job and rest your arm, if you fuck it up it might get worse

I feel for you, I fractured my right wrist a year ago and had a similar Cast on. I didn't really notice any drop in skill playing CSS, but I had to use a different type of grip, kind of like a claw grip, for a month on my mouse. I don't know of any mice that might work, but you could try doing a different grip to see if that helps.
Also, you probably broke your wrist differently than I did, but playing computer games for 10+ hours most Days while I had a Cast on did nothing to me and I healed perfectly fine. Something to keep in mind no matter what is that your wrist will be weak for a while afterwards, mine hurt playing basketball and doing similar motions to that for around 7-8 months afterwards. Best of luck on your recovery!

I had that once and used a Razer Naga (was playing MMOS at the time) and just put it on max dpi. The control wasn't great but I could at least play without pain since I only needed to look at it to move the pointer

This may sound really silly but in fact I know someone who does this, so bare with me.
You turn the mouse 180 degrees making a clockwise rotation, so the buttons (and wire, if you have it) are pointing towards you, like a mini piano with 2 keys. Weird right? Then you invert all mouse axis movement in windows, so up/down/left/right is back to normal while you use the mouse that way. And that allows you to use the mouse with just your finger tips, and the back end of the mouse is not in the way because it is behind the buttons and you'll never touch it.
Again: if I hadn't seen this work I would have never believed it

That is absolute genius
Also listen to doctors advice OP.

Yeah I've been encouraged to move my fingers regularly aslong as it doesn't hurt. I may give the invert method a go, however, i do understand that healing is more important.
Thanks for the ideas
