UDP for starcraft 1 gaming

michaelttkk United States16 Posts January 22 2013 04:22 GMT #1 Hi! Thank you for the help and links. When I tried to play, I couldn't, I can only see the members on US EAST server people. I can't create nor join a game. here's the screen I got when I open up to play. thank you in advanced! Michael

TelecoM United States10673 Posts January 22 2013 06:35 GMT #2 You have to open your router page in your browser, and open ports 6112 through 6112, in TCP and UPD, both. Then it should work.

michaelttkk United States16 Posts January 22 2013 16:55 GMT #4 static IP as in to assign static IP for my IPv4 settings? i have set the TCP and UDP for port forwarding on the router. Could it be my speed? it's 10mbps. Thanks for the information.

Grobyc Canada18410 Posts January 22 2013 18:34 GMT #5 No it's not your speed. You can play BW over 56kbps. Yes assign the assign IP under your IPv4 settings. Make sure that IP and the IP that you forward port 6112 to are the same.

I recall having an issue like this years ago and it turned out to be because my windows firewall was denying traffic on port 6112. Usually this exception is made when BW is first installed/launched, but whatever reason perhaps it didn't. Of course if it is the firewall you just need to add a manual rule allowing the traffic because it's not a good idea to simply turn your firewall off.

michaelttkk United States16 Posts January 22 2013 21:46 GMT #9 i agree. that's why i manually allowed 6112 TCP and UDP in my firewall as exception. maybe i should try with firewall disabled for just 1 time and see.

Most of this stuff won't work if the router is dynamically assigning an IP every time the PC turns on. To enable static IP you also need to provide DNS IPs. You can use these: http://www.opendns.com/opendns-ip-addresses

michaelttkk United States16 Posts January 23 2013 05:10 GMT #12 i set my ip 192.168.1.30 with 255.255.255.0 and the gateway as 192.168.1.1 for my dns i set primary to 4.2.2.2 and secondary to 208.67.222.222 it's strange, sadly with the same result. i called my ISP and they said they don't put any restriction to any port. we have to do it on the router.

Batman001100 1 Post October 29 2016 01:30 GMT #13 You might just have Access Control in Windows set too high and there may be a box waiting for you on your desktop to allow opening of this port for StarCraft. This was all I had to do on my old winXP laptop.
