High Ping while Streaming CS:GO

Hey guys,
While streaming CS:GO my ping spikes to around 200+. With stream off, it will be around 40. I am able to stream SC2 720p 60fps fine with no problems. Playing CS:GO while streaming @ 720p 30fps I still have over 100 in game FPS, it is just extremely high ping.

Upload = 4mbps
Stream bitrate=2200

Any thoughts? Thanks

lower the bitrate to 1300 buffer to 1sec (1300) and pick a slower preset until its around 90/80 fps in game

Streaming either game is going to be different. Maybe the CS servers you're connected to just aren't ideal. My ping on SC2 is sub-20s most days but I feel lucky to be sub-100 on League of Legends.

Just play around with your stream settings until you find something ideal. As IMrUIEs said, you can shift bandwidth load to your CPU. It'll compress the video CPU-side before sending it down the pipe, so the pipe can be smaller so to speak.

Your ping is highly dependent on your upload bandwidth, streaming (doesn't matter what rate as it occupies quite a big chunk of your upload rate) can affect your gaming experience, now the question is the following, is your ISP warranting the stated bandwidth (which is more than enough for streaming and playing) or is it "best effort" kind of upload bandwidth.

I'm having the same problem, even though I only have 900ish kb upload, I can stream most games without any ping problem (dota 2 keeps the same ping when streaming, sc2 doesn't lagg), but on CS:GO my ping raises from 35ish to 100~.
I thought it was because CS eats more bandwith than the other games, but if you have the same issue with more than double my upload bandwith free, it's strange.

I think streaming is usually bursty: It doesn't use half of your bandwidth all the time, it uses all of your bandwidth half the time. Whether that causes a problem depends on how QoS is operating. Ideally routers would prioritise UDP over TCP at least, but some may do the opposite.

The difference between the games is likely to be down to how they measure ping, or in SC2's case, how well they tolerate it. IIRC SC2 can absorb jitter in the region of 200ms without apparent ill effects because they put such a huge buffer into the servers. The down side is that you always have a delay of at least 200ms, which would be unacceptable in CSGO.
