I actually have the same problem as this guy and when I googled the issue all I could find is that integrated graphics sometimes makes OBS give a black screen on game capture however I have a radeon 7850 so I cant imagine thats my issue. Help would be appreciated

Try running OBS with your dedicated graphics card

Start menu, find OBS, right click and Run with graphics processor

Sometimes just unchecking and rechecking the Game Capture source checkbox fixes things for me. If not, try deleting the Game Capture source and adding it again?

Hello guys,

First post here so be nice

I'm trying to get a stream going and I think my build should do just fine to do so:
i5 3450 3.1 GHz
16 GB ram
GeForce GTX 760 2 GB
100/100 mbit internet

Even with fast or veryfast x264 CPU preset and 1000 max bitrate my stream always just seem to lag and buffer. Sound is great and ok but the picture is just not there. I currently use 1920x1080 downscaled to 1.5, but I've tried loads of different settings.

Is this a lack of CPU power or why can't I get it working? I checked the ping for best twitch server too, but doesn't seem to help in my case. Glad for any help I can get.

Does OBS say that you are dropping frames? www.pingtest.net showing low jitter/packet loss?

You should be able to hit ~save recording or some option like that, which will let you view it on your HDD as it was when you encoded it, before internet/twitch stage. If that video is good, you know that problem is elsewhere

So basically, if that video looks good problem is at IPS or Twitch?

What else could be the issue? Just tried to record and everything looks good to me - no lag at all.

If there's stuttering/lag on stream but not recording it's 100% internet/twitch, sending and/or recieving

Ok, how do I troubleshoot this the best way? Both in/out connections allowed in firewall and antivirus. Good connection and ethernet cable connected confirmed too. I use the server on twitch with best ping and least jitter/package loss.

Is there anything I might need to configure on the router I've forgotten? Anything else you might think of? This is driving me nuts :D

If OBS shows no dropped frames, the problem is between Twitch and the viewers. Run your log through the OBS analyzer to be sure there aren't other problems.

Well, yesterday I tried again with better results. Apparently, I had the bitrate vs resolution ratio a bit fucked up. So I set a higher bitrate and FPS and got rid of lag on stream. Not really logic according to my ways of thinking, but whatever solves the issue eh? Thanks for the help so far.

If I don't run into more trouble you won't see me here in this thread until I'm smart enough to give advice to others

My sound and video is getting out of sync. It was working before and I don't think I changed any settings. I have CFR enabled and 'force desktop audio to use video timestamps' ticked.

Monitor Capture Test

Was getting really frustrated with little issues with my game capture setting, the game is set to the same aspect ratio and resolution as my monitor, and OBS is set to the same but when using the game capture setting it's really off.

Capturing my monitor worked to resolve that issue, but as you can see there's a continuous black flicker on it. Is it just dropping frames consistently or what?

I will probably go back and tweak things later on.

PS - Is there a way to reliably test the audio mix that is going out other than opening up your own stream?

You mean OBS is outputting something at a different aspect ratio or resolution? Are you sure you're not using resolution downscale or anything?

Ah, finally. I just realised that I had manually moved the Scene border around (I set this up like, 6 months ago so forgot everything I did. It was cramming everything in within one that was stretched to work within my former 4:3 monitor setup, obviously not going to work well now I've finally made the jump to 16

The flickering comes from capturing the monitor while StarCraft 2 is in fullscreen mode, if you do monitor capture you will need to play in windowed or windowed(fullscreen) mode.

Why am I getting this message?

Before you answer that: I went to the broadcast page on twitch.tv and made sure my stream key was up-to-date. Pasted key into OBS, didn't work, so I refreshed, got a new key, same result.
