So I've had this deathadder for a while now, about 6 months after I got it the scroll wheel started acting up. Like when I would scroll up it would randomly go both up and down, now it's so bad that I have to drag to scroll on websites or use the arrow keys. I also feel like the drag scrolling is partly responsible for the wrist pain I've been getting so I'm looking into a new mouse most likely.
I was wondering if anyone knows a way of fixing or preventing that scroll wheel bug, and how common it is? From what I've heard from people I know that have owned deathadders it seems pretty common, but for some reason it doesn't happen to everyone. Is there any way to prevent this? I really like the deathadder and want to get another one, but I don't think I will if its very common and I'll have to replace it every 6-12 months due to the scroll wheel breaking.
Really sorry if this doesn't deserve its own thread, I looked around and didn't see anything on the deathadder involving the scroll wheel issues, despite there being a lot of deathadder threads. Also sorry if this belongs in blogs instead, I couldn't decide on weather it would be more appropriate here or in blogs.

Same problem here, very annoying and just started now after having it for two years.

same thing here, really really annoying but i have gotten used to it, thank god it's not required for most games

Just wait a little while more and your left mouse button will be perma double clicking. Such horrible durability on these mice.
|
So I take it I should maybe not get another deathadder and look into something that lasts a bit longer?

Meh I've had no problems with the scroll wheel but I have experienced the random double-clicking. It seems to happen on very humid days...

I burned my 1st DA up in about 3 months. I bought a 2nd one and got the Best Buy in store warranty for an extra $10 bucks. This one broke too and I returned it after about 6 months. I'm currently on my 3rd but it's a good mouse. The problem is that it breaks really fast. Just get the warranty so you can get a brand new that same day.

I realize this is an old thread, but there does not seem to be a fix for this here. I have this problem too, and i will try to fix it with some extensive cleaning. See if there is dust or other stuff bugging the sensors or whatnot. If I can't fix it, I hope someone else have can.
Edit: Well it did not fix the problem. But cleaning it seems to have helped quite a lot. I'm not sure why. Before I would occasionally have trouble reaching the top of a web page, but now i can keep scrolling after reaching the top, and only get the buggy downward scroll once in a while.

Thanks for the update, it is appreciated. I guess I'll open my DA also to clean it and see if it helps (having the scroll issue occasionally). And if it dies or makes it worse, that'll just be a good reason for me to replace it.

Dammit mine just started doing this this week as well and i haven't been able to fix it. Did you all just end up getting new mice? :/
|
I have this problem, but cleaning it greatly reduced the frequency that it bugs out. When it does happen I just tilt the scroll wheel from side to side and hope that the tilting isn't a placebo and that it loosens any dirt on the sensor.
|
Hmm I just finished putting it back together (after losing one of the feet for my mouse...) and cleaning it, although there wasn't really much dirt inside and I've reconnected it on a USB 3.0 port and it seems to have at least temporarily fixed it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If it acts up again I think I'm just going to get a new mouse >.>
