Headset/Mic problems - Steelseries Siberia v2

FalconPunch United States134 Posts March 18 2012 08:11 GMT #1 Hey guys. So I recently bought this headset and started using it. I am having trouble getting the mic to work for sc2. My current setup has an audio controller that connects to my speakers which is connected to my computer. The controller has a headphone jack as well as a mic jack. I would assume since it came like this, all I had to do was plug in the jacks from my headset and things would work fine. Well, I get audio just fine, but apparently, Windows can't detect that I have a mic connected. Ok... so my plan B was to connect my headset directly to my computer case, which has headphone and mic jacks. Once I did that, Windows was able to detect my mic. Great! But when I'm in sc2, I cannot get the mic to pick up any noise. I am kind of lost and would like to hear if you guys have any suggestions. If possible, I would like to get this to work with my speaker system/audio controller. Thanks for the help in advance!

FloKi 1490 Posts March 18 2012 08:52 GMT #2 I got the same problem with my Seberia V2.It happened last year,while i was using ventrilo you couldint hear me speak,all you could hear was a hissing noise.Sadly i still dont know how to fix it :/ .

Tanukki Finland579 Posts March 18 2012 12:06 GMT #3 Check the sound options in your control panel and set the mic as the default recording device. Some programs like sc2 or skype might change those settings, so double-check. Also make sure that the in-game settings for voice are the same. If you have push-to-talk enabled, make sure you're pressing the hotkey. If it's voice activation, make sure the volume's high enough. The headset has a switch in the middle of the cord that mutes the mic, make sure that's turned off (no red bar visible) If you got that all covered it's a driver issue or a defect in the headset/whatever's passing for your soundcard.

Eisregen Germany967 Posts March 18 2012 12:08 GMT #4 Got a siberia and also boxes/sub with an audio controller and everything works like a charm. Most problems related with microphones etc are either caused by bad configurations and/or bad drivers. You are using onboard soundchips I assume? If so, then go to the realtekhomepage and download the correct one, should fix all issues. And also make sure you connected the audio controller correctly.

GroksY 2 Posts October 29 2012 20:35 GMT #5 Hi, i have mass problem with my new siberia v2's. The problem is that my voise to other guys-players are like im talking from submarine... I tried all things like reducing noise and dB's but still nothing helped. I got it only recently and he worked perfectly and from 1 point he just started to give me problems Pls help me im proffesional player for dota and i need really clear mic so my teammates can hear me Tnx in advance

plgElwood Germany518 Posts October 30 2012 00:02 GMT #8 Close all Programms excluding Firefox Type "Sound" into windows commandline (searchbar after hitting windows button), or go to windows soundoptions via Menu. set Speakers USB PnP Sounddevice as "standard" on the first tab. Switch to "Recording Tab" set Microphone USB PnP Sound Device as "standard" Go to properties on same tab, switch trough Mic property´s tabs and deselect "Mic-Boost", set the Mic Level to 100%, set sound to 2 Channel 16Bit 4410 Hz or default. Start up your Voice-Chat program or make sure your inputdevice is either "Windows Standard" or USB -PnP SoundDevice.

Zorkmid 4410 Posts December 06 2012 17:04 GMT #9 I have a set of these, they randomly seem to cut out once in awhile and require that they be unplugged and plugged back in. They do this on several PCs I've tried. The Steel Series support site is god awful and seems to redirect to sales pages when I try and get through to support.
