Sorry if this has been covered I just havn't seen this speicific issue on the web. I've been streaming sc2 for a while now with no problems, I've removed blurriness from scrolling, i have the streaming video in what is to me amazing quality. But when I try to add overlays (Like sharpedit) i notice on my second monitor that the stream is extremely choppy, it freezes, lags, you know all the good stuff. Starcraft 2 itself isn't laggy and the xsplit preview doesn't show anything wrong, just the actual live stream which makes me think it's my net but I dont think so.
Here is a shot of my settings
http://tinypic.com/r/cta3s/5
I record in 1600 : 900 cause that is my screen resolution and looks better than 720
now u'll probably also want my comp specs
Asus Laptop <--- it's a laptop which is probably what kills me lol but I trust it win 7 i7-2630 QM @ 2ghz with overclock 2.8 i believe 8 gig ram Nivdia Geforce GTX 560M with 2 gigs dedicated
it's not the problem here, but just saying for being a top i7 chip it sure still holds me back some lol
with that said I do not belive my comp is the problem, it should be able to handle the stream.
Which leads me to think it's my internet, but I speedtest all the time, and on average my download speed is 17Mbs and my upload is 4Mbs so I dont think that should be a problem at all. That's definatly enough to handle starcraft and xsplit.
Anyone know what can help? Besides just not using overlays on xsplit. Port forwarding the router or anything? and if so what would be the ports
Only reason i say port forwarding other than everything needing port forwarding now days, since my 4 mbs of upload should be able to handle it, maybe the routers firewall is limiting the bandwith? It's a good router too, a netgear dual band that does both 2.4 and 5 ghz

Use the XSplit internal bandwidth tester. Your upload connection to the JTV servers is the only thing that matters, and it will most likely be lower than 4Mbps. I have a 50Mbps upload, but only get around 2.5Mbps up to the JTV servers.
|
the bandwith tester is in the green, I did get a yellow then green but i lowered the vid bitrate a little anyway and i'm getting a litte over 1.5m to the server which should be enough i think
|
I may have fixed the issue by lowering my vid bitrate even more, but now the picture isn't as good
guess i have to make sacrafices, i just dont understand why? Is there a way for me to have a good quality picture and have the overlay? Anyway i can increase my upload speed to justin/twitch
|
i belive i have fixed it entirely, and if anyone else has lag in their streams with or without the overlay, try changing ur location from default to where u live =] added a good amount of upload speed to the justin server, yet i would like to see if i could sneak some more in
|
change location where on what?
|
The Location dropbox on Xsplit channel settings shown in his picture posted in the OP. It should let you pick your Justin.tv server to stream to manually instead of the default autoselecting option.

As for lagging due to adding an overlay, that is 100% purely coincidental - I can't really explain it in details, but adding an overlay will not use significantly more bandwidth (if any).
A fix would more likely be related to not view the stream from the same computer he streams with, Windows Aero or minimizing the XSplit window.

Does xsplit say you are dropping frames at the top of the window while streaming game?
