How to use tilde key as assign key [control group]

hey guys

I am trying to create custom hotkeys for sc2 and i originally added the left [alt] key as part of creating control groups. I was thinking using the [`] tilde key would be much more efficient for me.. but in the hotkeys section.. it wont allow me to change it.

Is there a way to work around this?

I have it there also, as my number 0 control group, what I did is hotkeys section, where it says create control group you add in control(hold) then `, but make sure it to do it for the rest of them like "add to group and the other one" there shouldn't be a real trouble since that key isn't used really

hmm.. mb my what i posted was confusing. basically what i do right now is hold [ctrl] + [1] to assign a group to hotkey [1]. what i want to do is instead of using [ctrl] i would like to use tilde [`] + [1] to assign something to the key [1].

hey guys... i did some more research and autohokey does it.. then i also found out that my razre keyboard has driver software that does it completely ezly.. so its done.. thanks

OP already figured out the solution, thank you for adding to the post......

@OP if you didnt have a razer product you could of just went in and registry changed the keymapping, some find it easier than autohotkey.

@boblhead... i actually download a program that did that through a GUI interface.. its called 'sharpkeys' that would change the registry but when i logged back into sc2, the hotkey setup inside sc2 over-wrote the change i made within windows. Maybe there might be a different way that u might be saying, but sharpkeys changed the reg values and didnt work for me.

thanks a lot though for your help and yes.. autohotkey does require a bit of research to get it working.

btw.. i emailed blizz support asking if it was possible to get the tilde to work as i wanted it to and this is what they wrote back to me

Hello,

There isnt a way to change the hotkeys for SC2 through the Blizzard supported method. If there is a way to do it, it would be through a third party developer and probably would be in violation of the TOU.

Investigate at your own risk.

so just a heads up for ppl that want to make changes via 3rd party software. I think its more based on setting commands to do multiple things with 1 key stroke, but im not really sure cause i didnt read the TOU

Remapping keys on your computer isn't against the terms of agreement unless your mapping several keystrokes to 1 key. There is no way for them to tell if your remapping keys for your keyboard.
