Static Noise

Hello. First of all I hope everyone of you are having an amazing weekend with MLG! Now onto my problem.

Ever since I changed my headset to Razer Orca and reinstalled windows, I've been having static sound issues. The static doesn't appear unless I open up a game or some sort of a program. For example: if I open up foobarr, you can almost barely hear the static there, however if I decide to scroll, the static gets louder until I stop.

When I launch Star Craft 2 the static becomes constant. The static sound is very thin. You can hide it with music, but it gets annoying very quickly if you play without music. Also, right now watching MLG the static appears but for a very small amount of time.I have tried my headset on my friends PC, it was fine. Also, tried two different headphones, ones which I bought few hours ago, the static remained. I have installed the firmware updates for sound, however, there doesn't seem to be a sound card in my PC.

it could come from the power port which you use for your computer, try to use an other one.

other option could be thats it comes from your soundcard, try to get an other one if the first doesnt works, i have good experience with usb ones.

I used my old headphones with old windows and there was no static. The headphones were just generic Philips ones. And there doesn't seem to be a sound card in my PC.

And I do not use a USB headset, never did, I'm having this static problem for the first time ever.

It sounds like stray interference from the GPU (possibly CPU) with higher utilization, which is not uncommon.

edit: if it's because of the GPU, you could possibly try seeing if disabling lower power states, or similar behavior relating to GPU clock speeds, could help. I don't think so though.

Regardless of the source, unless the source is the audio chip itself, if you are using the front panel connection, you can try the back, as that is often better. It's easy to pick up interference with a long run of wire (aka an "antenna" in some sense), like the one from the motherboard to the front panel connector. If that helps but the position is inconvenient, just get an extension cord (3.5 stereo TRS male -> 3.5 stereo TRS female).

You can also try a relatively cheap external USB sound card, but that costs money. (The very low end ones like less than 30 USD or so suck btw, but if you're using Razer Orca it may not be a big concern.)

Thanks to Myrmidons advice, the static problem has been fixed, there's absolutely no static whatsoever.

All I had to do, was move the connection from front panel to the back panel. Thank you Myrmidon

If you have anything plug on your front usb port, just remove them. It solves the pb for me.
