Hey guys! I have an issue with my keyboard that randomly double types certain characters like "w" and "c" whenever I tap it only once. I looked up multiple solutions including, but not limited to, the following:
1. Uninstalling the second driver that gets installed 2. Sending in old keyboard for brand new one (just came in today, same problem) 3. Trying different keyboard on desktop (works fine, no double letter typing) 4. Rebooting in Safe Mode 5. Scanning vigilantly for viruses
I run Windows 7 64-bit and have a Zowie Celeritas. Any ideas on wwhat to do? Thanks!

From what i've heard you can set keys to type up to 8 letters per stroke. There may be some configuraion you've done that you dont know of Try the settings and see if there's anything there that might cause this problem.
Sounds really wierd. What kind of switches do you have?

Hmm I don't know where to look for those settings. What's even worse is that its completely random. sometimes I get a couple w's off nicely. Then its the attack of the double types There's no specific driver for this keyboard either. They are brown switches. Hmm...very odd situation indeed.

Pull the keycaps off the offending key. Mash the switch abit, blow in it. Perhaps even blow some compressed air in. Replace the cap, hopefully it is fixed.

Nevermind, the chattering key is definitely an issue...

Have you tried it on a different computer?

Yes and its the same result. Definitely a keyboard issue...I just got a brand new one too so I'm not sure what to do.

Removing the key cap and cleaning it as poster mentioned above would probably be your option other than to rma it. Some poster in the mechanical keyboard guide thread mentioned he had solved a double tapping issue this way so it doesn't hurt to try.

Ah ok well I just cleaned it relatively thoroughly...not really sure what to do other than blow and clean the inside of the cap. Mashing didn't really help...think it made it worse LOL

That sucks. Not sure if there is anything else you can do, sorry. Read a bit more here:

Cherry MX Switch That Repeats Characters If you get tthe or hhello repeating characters it's called key "Chattering". This happens sometimes with any mechanical contact switch due to a phenomenon called "contact bounce". Often you can fix it with a blast of compressed air. If it continues to chatter replace the switch (see buying links above). Relevant thread 1 where the air fix worked. Relevant thread 2 with Elitekeyboard's comments. Seems to happen with all Cherry MX switches (Poll).
Check the relevant threads 1 and 2 for how other people fixed it.

You did clean the switch (the brown thing the cap goes on) not the cap right?
Is it fixed?
|
That is pretty rare and unfortunate but it happens. Sometimes you have to push it up and down and clean it out since there can be dust or hair causing it. If that still doesn't fix it then RMA it as a defective product. You said it was brand new so you can certainly exchange it since chattering is a product defect.

Yeah I cleaned inside the switch. The cap was a last ditched effort haha. Thanks for all your feedback...I'll message ZOWWIE asap!

Hello, i just bought a Zowie Celeritas keyboard, but i need to change the windows key to CTRL key, does anyone know how to do it?
|
Search for "SharpKeys". I think it can do what you want. It will write your changes into the Windows registry. This means your changes will stay without the program running and will work with any keyboard you connect to this Windows PC.
