However I might like to try a tactile keyboard in the future, do you think red and brown are similar?

There are "clear" switches, that have a more pronounced feel for the activation point compared to blue and brown. Keyboards with those are rare, the switches are heavier to press than black switches, so no one wants them.

My brother has the Blackwidow with blue switches, and it seems okay for typing, although it doesn't seem to have much tactile feel (although I've never felt another mechanical keyboard). When I type, it makes a nice sound, but I can't seem to feel a very definite click. Is this just the keyboard or are all blues supposed to be like that? Because if I press the key slowly I can feel a click, it's just not very noticeable when moving the key at a high speed. The BW I tried had less tactile feedback compared to my Ducky Shine even though they are both blue type. On December 30 2012 00:36 kaNt- wrote: Hi guys I got a Steelseries 6gv2 with MX red switches 1 week and a half ago, I like it but linear feeling is kind of boring. Also, the MX red cheery feels similar to rubber dome due to the similar light force requiered and the linear style. But I like much more the 6gv2 because the keys feels kind of metallic and much more solid and smooth. However I might like to try a tactile keyboard in the future, do you think red and brown are similar? If you want a definite tactile keyboard, you'll want to get blues. Tactile feedback on brown is quite mild although it's not completely linear like reds and blacks.

Also if you wanna go tactile. Go blues. Browns tactile feeling is neglible and only feel like mushy, unclean reds.

From what I heard the CM is a nice keyboard. If you want to save some money that isn't a bad choice, but if you want to spend a little more money I would either go for the Filco or Ducky. Ducky shine if you want a backlit keyboard or a Filco if you don't want a backlit. If you don't want a tenkeyless Das is also a great choice. The board is a little bit bigger and has a shinier coat vs a matte feel with the Ducky and Filco. I have a 2 Filco and 1 Ducky and love both of them, but a slight edge goes to the Filco.

Quality control and tolerance on key cap weight, actuation, key cap fit 3. ABS versus PBT key caps 4. Plate versus PCB mounted 5. Angle of actuation Hard to say exactly why it would feel different, but I find keys from different keyboards feel different sometimes anyways. Even keys from the same model of keyboards can feel different sometimes. It's the nature of product manufacturing, especially for keyboards. They're nice, but hard to type with since they never break in. I would like a keyboard with them one day to experiment, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything when I tried it.

Equivalent to Leopold or rose will. Don't pay more than 120 for one. For those considering clears, deck makes them available and deck is one of the most solid boards out there. Clears are a good recommendation for someone who is tired of blues or can't find a switch they like.

Not sure of anything anymore because I'm reading conflicting accounts of MX Blue specifications from different sites, so I'll just use OCN's guide as a reference. http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide#post_6009482 Cherry MX Blue Switches ... Actuation Force: 50g (60g Peak Force) (Force Diagram) Key Travel: 2mm to actuation, 4mm to bottom http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-blackwidow-2013/ With its optimized actuation force of 50g and a reduced actuation distance of 2 mm the Razer BlackWidow’s keys allow you to actuate your commands faster than on any other standard gaming keyboard. So Razer's description seems to be fancy marketing, nothing modified.

I've never touched a keyboard with browns before, but I wanted to get a keyboard that's a bit more silent this time around so it felt like the natural choice. How does the browns work in StarCraft 2 when compared to blue?

How does the browns work in StarCraft 2 when compared to blue? In my experiences browns feel no different than blues at all, really. My current board is a Majetouch-2 tenkeyless Filco with browns, should be the same as the one you're ordering except letters printed on top, rather than sides? ;p But anyways it "should" feel exactly the same as your old filco with blues. Except being somewhat more quiet. Browns are still kinda noisy imo.

Although it's subjective, you can't say you can't play games without a mechanical keyboard. Almost any keyboard works fine for gaming. Just some are more comfortable than others. Quite simply you won't really notice much in my honest opinion. On January 02 2013 18:11 Chylith wrote: In my experiences browns feel no different than blues at all, really. Blues are very noisy and can annoy people around me but some people claim that browns aren´t tactile or the tactile feeling is too weak. So can somebody help me? :D
