CPU Fan Speed and Temperature

Hey, folks!
I have recently noticed that my CPU Temperature and Fan Speed seems too hot while idle.

Comp Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 8450 Triple-core @2100
GPU: Radeon HD6850 1GB
RAM: 4GB
PSU: Generic 500W

As you can see in the screenshot, it is running at around 41C idle and 56C while playing SC2 and other games. It got to 61C after running a stress test for 30min.
Also, the fan speed gets really high when the case it closed. It stays at around 5600RPM idle, so I'm forced to let it open while the computer is on.
The heat sink and the fan are both clean, although I have never opened it / changed the thermal paste in 2 years.

Should I buy a new PSU, change the thermal paste and/or format my computer?

Are you running a stock cooler?

Edit: Looks like it from such high fan rpm.

Yeah, a stock cooler.
The idle temp seems too high, I see people on the interwebz saying that their CPU stays at around 30C-ish.
But more importantly, the fan speed seems too high. almost 6kRPM idle, and stays at 6k during stress test. <_<

Uhm, your idle fan speed shows as 3300-3500RPM. Temps don't seem to be a problem. Anyway, idle temps are based on a lot of factors, so someone else's aren't going to be yours.

If that is a screenshot of HWMonitor AFTER you ran a Stress Test, your Cores were max at 34C?

Idle at 16C? That's really good.

Been a while since I've looked at AMD stuff, but with a stock cooler, I'd expect it higher than 16C idle and 34C load.

What are your ambient temps?

And yes, if you're stress-testing your fans will work at their max-level because your CPU is working under full load, therefore causing more heat, requiring the fan to work harder to get rid of said heat.

Well, since his cores are cooler than his case temp, one or the other is reporting incorrectly. Or all of them.

I'm still curious how he thinks his max recorded fan speed is where it was at idle when his minimum was half that.

your cpu's max temp is rated at 70C.

you are more than fine at 61 after a stress test.

The speed shown is when my case is open. If I close it, it goes up to 5.5k+ really quickly.

Is it normal that it almost doubles the speed by only closing the case? o_o
Also, Cool 'n Quiet is enabled.

I'm looking at CPUTIN temp, not individual core temp.
Ambient temp is currently 12C
