63-65 C max for the cores in a stress test is pretty normal and well below levels you need to be concerned with.

Even when ive been playing sc2 all day it nver peaks above 50. idle at around 20-30 im using HWmonitor to check. right now im running at 27 25 29 and 31 for the 4 cores, with a max of 33 36 33 41, min of 24 26 22 28. His numbers come from a prime95 bench though, that's a lot more load then yours on SC2 and ambient temps play a big role for cooling. To the OP, you're fine if that's where you hit with prime95 testing. How are your idle/sc2 temps too? You're probably in good shape. edit: On August 07 2011 03:33 Juddas wrote: hmmm... those numbers are a little worrisome for me. I have had 85 on my i5 M480 That sounds like a laptop, which runs hotter in general. However, 85 is pretty darn hot, you might want to get canned air and blow out all the dust around the heatsink and the fan (take off the bottom cover) and consider a laptop cooling pad. My laptop was pretty hot last summer (GPU pushing toward 90) but blowing the dust out with canned air dropped 15+ C.

This is entirely correct. Different ambient temps, different cable management, different cases, different coolers can all result in different temps. Those temps are entirely safe and reasonable. Anyone telling you otherwise is at best basing it off incomplete information, and at worse, completely incompetent.

Those temperatures are better than I would expect for a full stress test, as I said earlier, so good that I was kind of wondering if you had aftermarket cooling or super awesome airflow inside the case.

i should move my cables inside the tower so that they do not touch the copper coils on the fan, right? edit: i bought the fan for about 30 dollars, the case i bought only had 1 120mm exhaust fan, and i didnt feel comfortable only using the stock cooler, as i live in the mountains, so there is no A/C, or much of a need for it, so my condo doesn't stay at 65 degrees all the time

Well, there's a bit more to cable management than that, but it's a good idea. Generally you should, as much as possible, run them behind the motherboard tray and along the bottom and back to not restrict airflow. If you google cable management and your case model, you'll probably find some good suggestions.
