Steelseries Siberia V2 Hurting Ears

So I recently bought the Steelseries Siberia V2 and within 30 minutes of wearing them, my ears began to hurt - a sort of burning sensation inside my ear. I was just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience / knows what the problem is. I don't feel that the headset shape is in anyway hurting as it hurts in the inside of my ear.

I often have to take them off for atleast 5-10 minutes and even then the pain comes back after about 10-20 minutes. I don't really want to buy another headset seeing as this one cost me £60 and was hoping the problem could be resolved :/

Thanks

Could be an ear infection. Wearing earphones increases the amount bacteria in your ear by a lot.
If it didn't heapen with your old headphones (if you have any), try using those again and see if the problem persits.

I have a similar problem however it starts to hurt me above my ears but thats just because it does not fit my head properly and all of the pressure of the headset its on the topside above my ears and none below so it can become uncomfortable.

Alongside this has caused the top half of the padding to become super flat.

I'm fairly confident in saying that I do not have an ear infection ^_^

Could be your ear is sensitive to a certain tone. Dont know what else it could be.

Hi Spaz,

I have this exact same headset. I've been using it for about six months and haven't really had too many issues with them. My ears will get warm from wearing them for a long period of time(expected), but not burning. It took me a little while to get used to the way they sit on my head considering the headset I used before. Is it possible there could be something wrong with your hearing? Have you used ear cupped headsets before? Or maybe keep the volume low and see if it's the headset pressure around your ears or the sound itself hurting you. Sorry if I'm not of any help, not quite sure what to say.

Either way this sucks... I know the pain of spending money on something that doesn't work out... Like my ex girlfriends...

I have a similar problem with headphones and ear pain when I'm on planes for over 3/4 hours.

the only way to find out would be to try other headsets. I would say borrow any type of headsets from friends, etc. If those don't hurt you, then you know where the problem is coming from.

Most new headsets hurt my ears after extended use(2+ hours at a time). I would wait a week or 2 and see if the problem continues.

I have had previous problems with wearing headphones / earphones for prolonged periods of time and similar pain but has never been so severe. My ears are not massive or small.

the ear buds might be too big/small. you can usually buy replacement pieces to fit your ear canal better. and as mentioned, if they are in ear headphones the volume doesn't need to be as loud.

try buying some replacement ear bug pieces, the rubber stuff, and find one that fits a bit better.

Isn't this a thread about a circumaural headset (well, more like half supraaural unless your ears are small)?

The shape and size can matter, as can the tightness. Essentially, if they push on the outer cartilage of your ear in the wrong directions, it can cause that pain.

I had these and I recently upgraded to Senheiser 555s ($100-150) modded to 595s ($140-329) and I couldn't be more pleased from the upgrade.

They are liquidating their inventory right now so it's all half off. For those who don't know the 555 and 595 are the exact same headphones with slight cosmetic differences once you remove the dampening tape in the 555s that lower the sound quality.

The material that covers the ear pieces on the siberia's is pretty crappy compared to the senheisers. I can play for 6 hours w/ my new headphones and it doesn't bother my ears.

I've got a pair of V2's and I've worn these upwards of 12+ hours with absolutely no pain or anything. I really think it has more to do with the size/shape as people are suggesting.

Assuming you just recently bought them and find it to be the headphones, I've had good experiences with steelseries customer support, they should be able to work with you on getting a new product or refund. I bought a pair of original Siberias about 4 months ago and one of the earpieces died on me, they ended up replacing it with a pair of V2 at no additional cost

This happens to me on occasion. It may be because you have glasses and the headset is pushing them hard into your head? It only happens if My V2s end up sitting on my head in a certain way.
