Yea you might be right , i remember tinkering with the power options but it was because this was happening.
Got windows 7, Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.30GHz with PSU cooler master elite 400 W. Had balanced option in power option with turning off display on 30 min and sleep on 1 hour.
Now I will put it on high performance and see if there is difference.
If i remember correctly i set in advanced option for hard disk to not turn off but cant be the problem right?

For desktop systems it's best when the hard disks are spinning all the time. The additional power that costs while the PC is idling is negligible.

I think I had something similar. I sometimes got BSOD after turning the monitor back on after idle (e.g. the computer would turn off the monitor without the actual physical switch being touched). So I just un-checked the power saving option that turned off the monitor and I turn off the monitor myself when I leave the computer.
Not saying that fixes anything, just throwing that out there.

will dark souls 2 run on my macbook pro? If so, how well? Here are the specs (I have windows 8 pro in bootcamp).
2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory 256GB PCIe-based flash storage Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Probably low-medium @ 1080p.

I'm looking to replace my CPU and motherboard, and I am currently looking at the Intel Core i5-4670K processor with the Asus Z87-Pro motherboard. They total around $500, and I was wondering if I could do with something less.
I use this computer for small after effects projects, and the games I play are limited to LoL, SC2 and CS:GO. Can I save a bit more on this or should I just go with what I have?

If you are not overclocking than yes you can get a 4670 and a H81 or B85 board for significantly less.
If you are overclocking than you can get a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H instead of the ASUS Z87-Pro.

And on the subject of that, if you're making an upgrade that is significant for you, you might want to wait a little bit for Devil's Canyon (~4690k, might need z97 instead of z87)

If you want to exclude power management problems you can turn it off in Windows i.e. set to max performance and see if your system continues to shut down by itself.
Ty dude ! This has fixed my problem. Never happened again after I put high performance in power options.

i got a question about using two monitors at the same time.
i have my main monitor and then a tv hooked up on the wall beside it. and i was wondering how or if it is possible to play audio through my headset for the main monitor and then audio through the tv at the same time? im having trouble figuring it out
|
You want to duplicate the audio to two outputs?

id like too have like a movie playing on the tv and game on the other.
i figured out it works with VLC player just have to change the audio output on it.
that should work well enough

My ISP said I could get faster ineternet if I upgrade my modem to docsis 3.0. Right now I have motorola surfboard docsis 2.0 and I'm getting 33 down / 6 up. But my internet package says the fastest download speeds it offers are 25Mbps. So does that mean I'm already getting faster download speeds than I'm supposed to be getting and if so will I really see an increase in speed if I upgrade my modem?

Many providers use turbo boost technology where your download speed is boosted for the initial seconds of starting a download so this is what you are seeing on Speedtest.
DOCSIS 2.0 supports up to something like 40 Mbps but DOCSIS 3.0 is used by providers once passing 20-30 Mbps for stability reasons.

I see. yeah I think I get turboboost for the first 18MB-22MB of a download. So do you think I should bother getting a docsis 3.0 then? My modem is a few years old and I've been having some connection problems anyway.

I don't think there is a reason to buy a DOCSIS 3.0 modem if you are not using a plan requiring DOCSIS 3.0. I think there are some advantages to DOCSIS 3.0 even if you are not on a DOCSIS 3.0 plan when it comes to congestion though.

I'm looking into getting a new gpu for my current rig as well as getting some liquid cooling going for the new graphics and existing cpu. I've not done liquid cooling before and haven't looked at hardware specs on the market for several years.
Is it worth getting liquid cooling for my current cpu or just getting a new cpu/ gpu/ liquid cooling package? Any recommendations for the above? Relivant specs are below.
+ Show Spoiler + AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Socket AM3 3.2 GHz 8MB L3 Cache Kingston 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-27) 1.7 - 1.9V CM Storm Scout + Coolermaster Silent Pro 700W Modular PSU ASUS M4A78T-E 790GX Socket AM3 onboard VGA DVI HDMI 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard GeForce GT 400
On a different topic, can anyone recommend a tool for checking PSU useage, my PC doesn't like booting everything up sometimes, lights come on but no hard drive activity, no bios.

There is no such thing as a GT 400.
You need a multimeter to troubleshoot the power supply. It's much easier to just buy a new budget power supply such as EVGA 500B to test though. If you are talking about wattage than your current configuration, assuming a low-end GPU as there is no such thing as a GT 400, would consume around 100w or less during load so a 700w power supply is very overkill.
Phenom II X4 955 is really old so if you are venturing into liquid cooling than you should just buy a Core i5 4690k and a Z97 board with a GTX 780 Ti or something.
