It's 16: 9, so you get the same view of the map as with the more standard resolutions, so that's good.
But is it the native resolution of your monitor? That'd be weird. Using a non-native resolution really reduces the image quality.

I don't think there's anything truly terrible like an increase in latency happening, so if you like it better just use it. I'd still say you are probably imagining things and the native 1920x1080 (or whatever) resolution is better for your brain to see things more clearly, unless you get a lot more fps at the lower resolution because of notebook graphics or something.

Now I'm using 1176 x 664 on the monitor, and 1600 x 900 on sc2.

What do you mean by "shakiness"? If it's something being off about the upscale calculation the monitor does to get your low resolution to its native resolution, you might want to see if you can use the graphics card for that. As an example, the NVidia drivers have these options for that: http://i.imgur.com/ZN6nyFE.png. You'd set it to "GPU" instead of "Display" in that drop-down box, select "aspect ratio" at the top.

Alright thx. By shakiness I mean that parts of the screen stutter, sometimes due to using higher than 720p and sometimes for other reasons I have no clue. Everything is OK though for the moment after fiddling with the Nvidia controls, Vaio controls, and windows...and I have no idea how. I'll have to make more adjustments later to make it perfect; don't wanna screw it up during dreamhack

Does anyone know of any haswell ultrabooks under 1000?

Is it possible to build a cheaper home PC (just browsing+skyping) than just straight up buying a dell (or w/e brand)?

If you don't need Windows then yes.

My TV can do browsing and a bunch of apps (no Skype iirc), but I think there are those that can do Skype.
You can build a basic PC pretty cheaply, though.

If you just want a basic computer, buying a Dell system from the Dell Outlet is far cheaper than building your own because of the Windows licence. Its what I would recommend, the Dell systems aren't that bad these days and you've generally got enough headroom to plop in a $200 GPU if you want to game.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll probably end up buying a dell or whatever.
Though i'll be checking out the smart TVs since i've never even really bothered before.

I'm going to upgrade my computer, and when it comes to graphic cards I want to choose between: AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition nVidia GeForce GTX 770
Which one is better? I'm playing SC2, Dota 2, SW:TOR and DayZ.
EDIT: GOT MY ANSWER, THANKS.
