I put in the next one they sent me yesterday, and everything seemed fine (didn't use any 3d software). Today I tried playing D3 and WoW and in both cases I was getting flickering shapes... I'm guessing that the card they sent me was no good... I tried re-installing the software/driver to no avail. Looks like another 16 days of RMA hell?

PS, I already walked micro through reinstalling his video driver and checking his GPU temp (58C idle). His Windows install is fully up to date including any additional driver updates. To me it sounds like a physical issue with the card, unless anyone (jinglehell?) has any other ideas. The fact that he's had two cards crap out and one is sitting at 58C idle makes me think they are overheating and getting damaged. He hasn't done a full burn-in test yet, but if it's that hot idle that makes me nervous....

Well, I'd be starting to get paranoid about the mobo slot, and would be trying to borrow one from a friend to make sure that wasn't the issue for shits n gigs, but yeah, especially with an (apparently, I'll take our resident miner's word on this) known unreliable card, I'd be thinking another bad sample. Have you tried any non-blizz games, just to be sure it's not some wonky shit?

Have you tried any non-blizz games, just to be sure it's not some wonky shit? I actually just tried playing WoW using my MOBO graphics. It was a bit choppy until I turned down the settings, but then it was fine. Does that sufficiently tell you what you need to know to diagnose the problem? I don't have any 3d nonblizz games installed at the moment.

No, you'd specifically need to either use your GPU in another PCIe slot, whether on your board (if available) or in a friend's rig, or you'd need another GPU in the same slot if you only have one. I was specifically saying your PCIe slot the GPU is plugged into could potentially be moderately fucked-ish. While I seriously doubt it's a Blizz thing, you could try maybe LoL, since it's a free client, unless you've got like a Portal or HL2 license you could install. Just something that takes less than two weeks you could try.

Just something that takes less than two weeks you could try. I'll download portal2 overnight (meaning to play it anyway). That will test if it's a blizzard thing. My mobo is this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HIRD50/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 and I don't think it has a second slot for a GPU. I don't have another GPU to try. I don't have access to a "friend's rig" to try it on. I have a couple of old computers including a vostro 400 mini tower. I don't know if that is compatible or not.

I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on a good screencapping software? I dont need it for in-game capping, but rather to record music-visuals. It's at a pretty high fps & resolution. Ideally I'd like to cap the sound at the same time.

So when I first installed windows, my boot time was 5-7 seconds! Then I made the mistake of saying "yes to all" for ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 drivers and utilities. I have removed a lot of it but my boot time is 12-15 seconds. Does anyone know how to tell what else I can remove? Does it make a difference? I have since installed and patched sc2, nvidia drivers, and sc2 gears.

Up to you if the hassle is worth the time on that one, to test what would usually be a secondary or tertiary hardware fault to look at. I tried running 3dmark and the screen was just black, save for the logo on the top right and fps info on the bottom. The music was nice though! I am in the process of another RMA... this time they said they will give me a shipping label at least.

I can see the hard drive in hardware manager, but I can't see the hard drive when I go to computer. Q: What do I have to do to be able to view the hard drive in computer? How do I store files onto the hard drive and not on the SSD?
