60-66°C is perfectly fine, unless you are running a laptop.

How hot is it where you live right now?

60 - 66c is quite high but it is not overheating.

The question is quite vague and high temps could be because of several reasons:

- your case has poor airflow
- you didn't mount the heatsink properly
- you didn't clean out the dust that accumulated in the case and heatsink over the years
- you applied too much thermal paste or none at all
- your ambient temperatures are high

Yeap the temperature in our country is pretty high since we are near the equator of the globe. It gets to like a 36c outside I think.

Do you guys think I should take off the front casing? or just leave it on since there is a fan attached to the casing too.

If you dont feel comfortable with your cpu temps buy an after market fan+heatsink, sometimes stock coolers don't do enough. If you get a good after market cooler you will go down by 10-15c during max loads.

But at low loads it goes down to 40c diretly.

I'll try to see if I can get a market fan or some sort. Are they cheap?

If the temperature in your room is ~40c then your temperatures are perfectly fine. If your room temperature is more around 20-25 then you are running a bit high but not horribly bad. You probably just need to clean out the dust if this is the case.

It's definitely dust. I suggest a leafblower to clean the entire PC case out

sc2 probably really stresses your machine, You need to increase airflow in and around the computer, Sometimes just getting a crappy 5$ Table top fan and pointing it at the computer can help drastically lower ambient temps around the machine, or at-least help move hot air away from the machine.

opps lol i read gpu instead of cpu. but 66c isn't overheating it's a bit high but that depends on what chip you exactly have. but my first assumption would be if the cpu isn't oced and you're on stock cooler that it's not seated just right or not enough/too much thermal paste. That or it's just the case doesn't vent as well as it should.

I wouldn't worry about 60-66°C as its pretty much the definition of a normal CPU under load on a stock cooler. CPUs can handle much more than that.

As many people have said, 60-66c is fine for CPU. GPU can get a lot higher.

TJ Max for your processor is 85-100c (depending on the core your using.) Meaning, You don't really have to worry unless your cpu is getting close to those temps. (66c is very very far away from 85c.

Temps are fine dont even worry about it. I would even overclock it. It's an old chip and you should get all you can out of it. If you're worried the only thing you could do about it is clean out any dust in the heatsink. Removing the side of the case is also a good idea, but not particularly necessary at stock clocks.

60c is the safe limit for dual cores. Clean out your heatsink

You're getting the intel rating system mixed up. it's not 60. They recommend 61 degrees. It's the processor rating you want to care about. Some core 2 duo steppings are rated at 100 degrees. Some are 85. It would be extremely rare to suffer any sort of damage or long term survivability issues running the processor at around 80 degrees 24/7. These are safe limits, these are limits designated by intel that the processor line in testing has functioned correctly. The recommendations are like guidelines for the people who dont know what a processor is and probably wont ever know the temperature.

I'm guessing it's a prebuilt PC, and the cases used in those builds generally are more functional cooking your breakfast than cooling a computer. OP is fine on temps. I wouldnt worry till you get over 80 and thats when you probably want to look for some alternate cooling solutions.

60-66 is normal, under load with stock heat-sinks.

That is not hot at all, not worth worrying about or going out and buying a new cooler or re-seating the cpu and re-applying thermal paste and that.

my GPU goes up to 102°C when running FurMark f.e.

This is using a cooling pad, i dont know what would happen should I unplug it. I wonder what I could do, the laptop is open at all times and has 2 fans blowing air up at it all the time (which is in accordance with the laptop's air flow)

Having a huge ass desk fan besides it helps, but it's not very practical...
