touchpad getting in the way of playing

Hi, I probably going to sound stupid but I hardly know my tech at all so bare with me here. I have M11x alienware and i didn't realize until i played on a regular desktop and came back that the touch pad on it is really getting in the way. my hand isn't too particularly big imo but basically my palm might slide across it every now and then and that messes up w/e i was doing in a game. It's not like i'm going to point my wrist sky high to just avoid doing this, so is there a way of disabling it just while I'm playing starcraft or something?

Yes you can turn off the touchpad through the control panel.

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse

yea there is, use the alienware control panel and check for the touch settings
i have it so that it turns the touchpad off when i plug in a usb mouse

i can post later on where that setting is, i dont have access to my m11x while at work

open alienware command center
go to alientouch (3rd icon at bottom from left)
under tapping, check the option 'disable touchpad when external usb mouse is attached'

and so when you attach a usb mouse itll turn off your touchpad

Use an external keyboard

That's actually a pretty serious suggestion though, that's what I do even without an external monitor.

You clearly didnt read the op you cant unplug a touch pad.

Often there is a button or shortcut you can hit to turn off the control pad using the Function + some F key. Check the user manual to see if this is the case with your laptop.

nope on the alienware laptops you have to go thru the alienware command center, the program you use to change the keyboard leds
i have the same laptop as the TC

you could unplug a touchpad...but youd need to open up the laptop to do it!
