Things that should be added:

1. Drivers how well the mouse works without installing extra software/drivers. Also, if drivers are required, how good is it?

2. Polling rate preferably 500hz+ without installing drivers

3. Max speed while maintaining perfect tracking (no clipping/acceleration)

4. Does the mouse have "drift control" or "line correction"

5. Lift-off distance can be very mouse pad dependent, although some sensors are generally better.

6. Buttons how much force and distance required to click

I agree that shape and weight are most important.

you should also include the weight (without cord) and possibly a poll with the most common mice out there.

Yeah roccat is great I think, doesn't ship to my area though... Weird.

Nice work.

Does anyone use trackball? I've used trackball for years now, because I had some pain issues with my right arm, and only use mice when playing FPS.

I'm currently using the Logitech Trackball M570, yeah, it's wireless, and I hate myself for it, but it's more precise, and faster/easier to use, than the other trackballs I've used.

After reading through pages and pages of mouse threads, I still don't know what to buy... I use a fingertip grip, and my hand isn't very large, so I would prefer a smaller/flatter mouse. I also don't use a mouse pad. I also really like the forward/back buttons, so a 3-button mouse won't cut it for me.

I've used an MX310 for the good part of about 5 years now, and it was working fine until now. I used a friend's old Razer Diamondback for a few months and I really liked it, but it broke. I'm really curious as to what mouse is supposed to replace the Diamondback/3G. Most mice of the same size/design only have 3 buttons. Here's what I'm considering:

Razer Deathadder - Everyone says it's a good mouse, but Razer's site says it's designed for medium/large hands for the claw/palm grip.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 - Leaning towards this, but it's $40 shipped on Microsoft's website (Amazon is out of stock). Seems kinda steep for a basic mouse.

Microsoft Habu - Shape looks good, high DPI, $43 shipped in Amazon, but reviews say it has durability problems.

This seems like the best place to post for my question. Has anyone ever tried the Microsoft sidewinder x3 mouse? it looks pretty nice and its very cheap on amazon right now.

G9x is a very nice mouse for finger tip only users because it's not long and it's flat ish. I have larger hands so i use the wide grip but i suppose a small hand person would use the control grip, which ironically makes my hand sweat.

I think it's diamondback -> copperhead -> Lachesis is the current incarnation
I didn't like the diamond back for my fingertip only becuase it has a high hump in the back and it tapers off when you get to the bottom making it hard for me to grip, but that may just be a hand size thing. But the lachesis is a bit wider and not so tapered on the sides and it's hump isn't as large as there were enough people like me that didn't care for razers anti-ergonmic designs.

If you want a diamond back i'm sure you can still find the 3G versions of it which is still the same body.

i used to use a Habu for ~3 years and it's a really good mouse, but recently it had a cord problem so i kinda just left that mouse aside and got a deathadder and it's really good.

I ended up just getting an Intellimouse 3.0 at Best Buy because it was on sale for $30 and I needed a mouse fast. It's okay, but the sensitivity is pretty low. I thought 400-450 DPI wouldn't be a problem, but it's a lot more sluggish than my 800 DPI MX310. I have to set Windows and SC2 mouse sensitivity to max, which makes it skip pixels right? FYI I'm on a 1680x1050 22". It's still a good mouse, although bigger than I expected. I can still kinda fingertip/claw it, and it's pretty light. Overall not bad, but I actually think I'd prefer the MX310.

Great thread.
I personally have had a Razer Death Adder for 3 years now and its the best most reliable piece of PC Gaming gear i have ever owned.
I would highly recommend it too anyone with a Palm grip, for a claw gamer I don't think it would be the best.
Overall I think Razer makes very good quality Mice. If your thinking of picking up a Mouse don't look any farther then Razer (Don't think the same for anything else they make though....).

Hows the feel of clicking with the Death Adder? I like the feel of logitechs mx518 tactile feel when clicking along with the sound. Does the Death Adder have a profound tactile feeling when clicking? This is really important to me as I do spam a lot of clicks while playing SC2..

got a razer imperator from my gf and so far i LOVE it. well esp since i had to use a noname shit mouse for some time after my old mx500 kinda broke after 5 years.

it feels damn good in the hand and now i know what a missed . the mx500 was a great mouse but todays high end mice are just amazing. highly customizable , really nice buttons/wheel and super accurate. finally i can play sc again ~

really liked the deathadder i borrowed for some weeks too but the imperators shape is imho better and its overall just the pimped version of the DA.

I have the diamondback ! It is absolutely fucking amazing, I've been using it for 3 years. The abyssus or the Steelseries Xai are teh mice most similiar, try those
Anyway, I just got a roccat kone+ for christmas. It's fucking amazing, it's like an improved deathadder.

the kone+ is great, but very very heavy imho. too heavy for rts gaming for my taste.

i can second the recommendation of a microsoft/razer habu. mine is still working quite fine after over 3 years of extensive use.

heavy depends on person and their style, i'm fine with heavy and i'm a finger tips only grip kind of person, i don't pick up the mouse much so it doesn't bother me and the mouse although heavy glides on my hard mousepad. Then again i don't know too many people who play while using a wristrest and at 3200dpi+ but then again i only use my fingers to move my mouse.

I just got my roccat kone+(which is fucking amazing) which has 6000 dpi which is fucking overkill.
Is it better to say, increase my dpi to 1800 and the mouse sensivity (in the driver) to -2, or is it better to have it at 1400 dpi and mouse sensitivity 0? What's better/more accurate/doesn't skip pixels/whatever?

I'm a huge fan of the Sidewinder X3. It's a small mouse that is reasonably accurate and very fast. It's also very cheap, and not uncomfortable because it feels fairly sturdy.
