@Ropid:
Thanks for the quick response. The Zowie sounds really good. Only problem is, that there is no reseller for the white version in germany and it is out of stock in the zowiegear.com shop.
After some additional research I found the ZOWIE EC1 eVo CL, which should feature a non-rubber surface. Is there anybody out there, who owns this mouse and give me feedback, if this information is correct?
There is also the ZOWIE AM-FG that is glossy white like the EC1 Evo, but I do not need my mouse to be compatible with left handed play, so I think the only right handed version would feel better.
The Razer Abyssus Mirror unfortunatly does not come with additional thumb keys, so I would only fall back on this one, if there is no other mouse out there that suits my needs.

edt: The SteelSeries Kana white has also a glossy finish, so this might also be a possible choise. The Kana v2 has some black near the thumb buttons. I wondered, if this is hard plastic, or the evil soft touch rubber coating? ^^

1. What's your grip style?
I use a fingertip grip

2. What's your sensitivity?
Around 1300-1600 DPI

3. What's your maximum budget?
Id prefer 50 or under but my max budget can go higher

4. Do you want additional buttons?
Just accessible M4 and M5 all I care about

5. What games do you play?
SC2

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
I dont want any angle snappin, mouse prediction,or accel at all.

7. Other relevant information:

Im looking for something that has plug and play functionality for lans or tournaments and is recommended for RTS. Currently using the Rival right now and I absolutely love it although its slightly too big. Only problem is it needs USB software to set the DPI etc. I want something that I can just plug in and be around 1300-1600 DPI no matter what computer. Ive also loved the EC1 in the past but the DPI settings are too extreme either way. 1150 is too slow and 2300 is too fast.

The FK1 went out of stock on Amazon so i bought a Roccat Kone Pure Military.

It arrived today, and i really like its shape / finish but i've 2 problems:

- the left mouse button seems to be a bit higher than the right, when releasing the button the left one seems to have a more space between the switch and its resting place
- the roccat programs take 10+ seconds to change the settings everytime i click apply

Is this normal?

Logitechs new G302 has 1 onboard profile and is a very nice mouse as long as you don't need massive flick shots. It will do 1200/1600 dpi flawlessly weighs under 90g and some say that it's a fingertip mouse, you could probably check up at your local electronics store to see if you can grip it nicely. But it is 50 USD.

I actually figured out that I was wrong and the RIval has an onboard profile so I guess I should stick with it.

Probably the Rival is a good mouse if you're fine with it there is little reason to jump ship, unless you just got money to blow

I have a black Kana V2. On that one, the top is some sort of matte plastic (it's not rubber stuff). The sides below the thumb buttons feel like rubber. It could be that the white version only exchanges the top shell and leaves the sides like they are on my black one, so it wouldn't be a mouse that you want.

Thanks for the info. On the pictures, the black part of the white Kana V2 looks like the palm casing of the black V2. At least it has the same kind of texture. The thumb area of the black V2 smoother. Maybe somebody else has some first-hand experience with the white V2.
As you use the Kana V2, I would like to ask: How is the usage of the second side key (the one that you need to press with your ring or pinky). Do you use this key? Do you press it by accident? Is it easy to press, or took only some time to get used to?

When I used the Kana V2 (I used it a lot), I did never use the right thumb button for anything important. I never activated it by accident and I felt it was hard to press for me. I very rarely used the button in the web browser and never in games.

The left thumb button is always touched by the thumb just by normally gripping the mouse for me. The mouse is pretty small and flat and there's not really room to grip it only below the thumb buttons. Even though I always touched that thumb button, there was never a problem. I never accidentally activated that left thumb button when lifting the mouse etc.

yeah! what i like the most is the native dpi steps of 80, the shape, clicks and whats most impressive is probably the mousewheel. it's basically everything what i wanted from a mouse for so long. it's like a mix of the mico/abyssus for me. basically i could fingertip the mico almost perfectly but i really enjoyed the kinda flattened buttons and length of the abyssus. this mouse basically combines both aspects with a superb sensor, better click/wheel and grip than either. perfect for claw or fingertip grip.

the only thing that i wouldn't consider perfect is the cord, although it's still better than the one on the g100s (too stiff) or the xornet.

hmm interesting

i've been leaning towards getting the xornet for a while now though i have been refraining from getting one since i don't need a new mouse right this second and i want to make the best possible choice

the logitech g302 is a €50 mouse while the xornet is a more reasonable €20

it looks good, it has a lot of dpi, it doesn't seem to be too big (i use the fingertip grip). it does cost €50 though, so what do i get with this mouse that i don't get with the xornet? you seem to have hands on experience so i wouldn't mind hearing what you have to say

didn't really like the xornets shape, buttons and the horrible cable. also the dpi steps aren't that great (500,1000 and one setting higher).

Having lots of dpi isn't important for a mouse unless you use ridiculously high sens, 1500 dpi max will do fast for most people :p

it's not about how many you have or how high you can get, it's about which ones you have natively.

1000 dpi sounds ok

as for shape, buttons and cable, well i'm using a really cheap mouse already so i doubt that will bother me too too much

of course i could be wrong but overall the xornet has been appealing to me for a bit now

will continue to hang around this thread, maybe continue considering the g302

having only 1-2 dpi choices is never good, was one of my main problems with xornet too. It's a very solid mouse though considering the price - i'm just not one to take a compromise with the justification of "it's cheap" - i have no budget, xornet cost me like 2p per hour even though i didn't keep it as primary mouse for long. That price is nothing

It's steps are in 80, but it's native settings are in 400 just like the G402, so 400/800/1200/1600/2000 are all great settings on the G302. 2080 and above you get 1ms of smoothing to compensate for jitter you get using optical sensors at that resolution. Still 1ms of smoothing is far less than just about every implication of pixart 3310 sensor mice. Those using 120/144hz monitors are more likely to notice the smoothing.

I'm still sticking with a G502 because the 3366 is a pretty much flawless sensor and i use dpi of above 3000 minimum, due to screen resolution and just in general a high sensitivity user. So the G302 just wouldn't fit my needs, similarly if you do really long and fast flick shots the G302 might not be the best for you due to it's 3m/s failure rate, which is considered low for modern mice but most people would never reach that speed unless they do like >60cm(24 inch) flick shots.

hmm, well

If i can get the xornet and I end up really liking the mouse, plus I get to save €30, I'd be pretty damn happy not to have spent more money than I need. 2000 dpi sounds about right.

€30 is the difference in price between a cheap PSU and an excellent PSU for example. Or it's the difference between a Core 3500 and a Phanteks Enthoo Pro. Or it makes a €260 monitor become a €230 monitor. Very nice, very nice.

Well I'm just being stingy of course but I've had my eye on the xornet for a bit, it's been looking like a good purchase. it will be better than what i'm currently using at 1600 dpi (which might be artificial come to think of it). might as well continue asking around about it
