Thanks for the pic wo1fwood! I might try one. I was going to jump on an avior 7k but i missed a deal and i have a lot of trouble justifying ~£71 (~90 euro, 113usd) for a mouse that i might not like - the new firmwares are apparently pretty awesome though. They have the blessing of r0ach

xornet is an awesome value mouse if you like 500 or 1000dpi

EDIT: Well... I can find the CM Storm Xornet for as low as 18 € (including shipping), so there's no contest really if you like and can use the shape it has.

yeah, i'm still leaning towards the xornet. i'll keep thinking about it until christmas though

does anyone have experiences with cherry mice btw? a wired version of this mouse and slightly smaller wouldn't look so bad on paper:

g402 for £37 shipped on amazon.. half the price it'd cost me for a white avior, pretty good chance i will buy that. If i don't like it i can just pass it on to someone for £20

bought one, should have it friday morning

Hey guys, I've got a question. I just got a 2nd hand late 2011 Macbook Pro (I know i know, not the best for gaming, but dad barely uses it because he just doesn't understand OSX, so I think he should get a Windows instead of me getting a new one). Anyway, I was wondering when it comes down to mouse sensitivity, how do I achieve the 6/11 equivalent for Mac? Its mouse sensitivity slider has only 10 increments.
Also, I would like to know if anyone has any idea the percentage value for each increment? (like 3/11 in Windows is 50% of your mouse's sensitivity)
Thanks!

I think this tool here does what you want for OS X and mouse: http://smoothmouse.com/

About Windows vs. OSX usage... why not simply use Windows on this MBP? Apple provides a software called "Boot Camp" that helps getting Windows installed and working on it.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!
The program has 12 increments now, so I assume each increment is 100%/12?
Yeah I know about Boot Camp, but I would have to buy Windows, which is not cheap from where I am at.
I know this is not the tech forum, but would it benefit the integrated graphics card (HD3000) if I opt for a 16GB upgrade for RAM instead of 8GB? Because from what I have read the integrated graphics uses system memory as well.
Thank you again!

I saw a comment on 8GB of ram I ordered that in the 2011 MBP's on Lion when the system detects 8GB of RAM, it increases the shared memory of the Intel HD3000 integrated graphics to 512 MB instead of the default 384 MB. Is this true?

I don't think it actually uses very much RAM because it's weak. It's quite easy to find quotes like above. If you're wondering, the answer to above question was "yes", but every system that i've seen (no laptops i guess) can just set the amount manually

Ah, means the amount of RAM I use can be manually set I guess? Sounds cool!
Just installed SC2, can't select/box any units or structures, but I can still click the mini-map, make location hotkeys and interact with the interface, , is it a Mountain Lion issue?
Thank you very much for the help!

I'm not sure if that's a thing everywhere, but every system that i've seen (limited to desktop's with overclocking-tier motherboards) you have been able to set it manually. I dunno about mac+sc2 stuff, sorry

Hi guys, i'm new here and i'm looking for a new mouse, i currently use a G500 which seems to be pretty inaccurate.

- I mainly play MOBA (LoL) but sometimes i play SC2 and CS:GO too.
- I use a fingertip grip style (my pinky doesn't touch the mouse though).
- I play on 2100 CPI (but i'm trying to lower them a bit, i'm trying to lower them to 1600-1800), 6/11 windows slider, enhance pointer precision OFF.
- I'm right handed.

So basically i'm looking for a mouse which has native CPI around 1400-1800 has good tracking and fits my grip style.

Therefore i'm thinking to buy either a Zowie FK1 which supports 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 CPI and is an ambidextrous, not ergonomic mouse (i never used one) but i read they're good for fingertip grip style; or a Razer Deathadder 2013 which people say it seems to work well at every CPI (they're all interpolated or something like this, but they do work well).
The Zowie EC2 eVo CL seems good too but it supports weird CPI (450/1.150/2.300).

I can have the Zowie FK1 / EC2 eVo CL for 79€ on Amazon while the Razer Deathadder 2013 is only 49€.

What are your advice? Thank you

Edit: I play with the LoL mouse slider at 48 which seems to bring the windows slider at 5/11 during games, thus i think i play around 1575 CPI

It's a 3310 so very good, the rival is a big/heavy mouse though at 128g. ~42% heavier than the FK1. Lighter mice are usually prefered for games like moba/rts/mmo, because people usually use for example 1000dpi on 1920x1080 - so take 2 inches to cross the whole width of the screen. On FPS games, the sensitivity works differently and a very common sens among people looking to push their aim is ~40cm/360, or 20 centimeters of movement (bit under 8 inches) to do a 180 degree turn; and movement styles are very different with that much different in sens and the different types of aiming in an FPS

402 stuff~

The 402 shell did surprise me a little and i fingertip/claw it fine, there is a ton of thumb room on the left side and i can barely reach the sniper button even if i palm the mouse and try to click it

here's vid showing thumb position with fingertip grip - http://puu.sh/cM9Vi.webm - that was 3 hours after i got mouse and at 640dpi

Ok, thank you a lot.
I think i'll just buy a FK1 from Amazon and if i don't like it i'll probably return it.

On a side note what mousepads work well with the FK1? I currently have a Steelseries HD.

qck+/heavy seems like a safe bet. I'm not sure how they work on plastic pads

I use a qck+ with mine, no problems at all, I think you're better off having a black pad to avoid any tracking issues (it doesn't track at all on a white sheet of paper for example).
The mouse is way narrower than the rival tho, it's pretty long, you should be able to palm it fine but you may prefer an ergonomic shell.

Some don't like the FK1 for RTS just because of the heavy switches. Ofc Steelseries is switching over to their "in-house" switches iirc as well.

Yup the clics are really hard, but you get used to it. It really was a hard transition from the Spawn's omnron or whatever switches :<
