I'm not sure if default windows settings includes "Enhanced pointer precision" but you should be at 6/11 notches on the sensitivity thing (1.00x) with "enhanced pointer precision" (negative acceleration when moving slowly, positive when moving quickly) disabled

1600dpi is high, 5k is wat :D

Default setting was indeed 6/11 (or half-way through, if it starts from 0) with "Enhanced pointer precision" disabled. If a turned it up all the way, it just became judiciously high.

I'l stick to 6/11, 5000dpi and no pointer precision. I like it, and I guess everyone is different. (For example, I've heard that many people really like the PS4-controller but personally I don't like it one single bit)

analog sticks are superior input method for some games

joystick is superior input method for some games

arcade-type controls are superior input method for some games

drawing-style tablets with low input latency to use with a pen are superior input method for some games

I just can't imagine why you'd want to use 5k dpi instead of 400-2k (low to high sens) on a mouse if you were concerned for accuracy and speed because it goes beyond preferences and into actually significantly limiting your skill :D

I'm a use whatever lets me work best type of person, like some people say they won't be X mouse because it doesn't work on Y mousepad - i'd just use a different mouse surface and buy it anyway if it was better in a notable way

^fun game and good for practice, i like waiting for 3 or so to pop up then looking away to hit 3~ it's quite heavily muscle memory based

I'll definitely post in here again anyway once I get closer to picking a couple of favorites, I'm currently using my girlfriends Sharkoon Draconia after my CM Storm Inferno died and while alright it could be a lot better. I'm just a huge sucker for just a littttle bit more than the two thumb buttons and with the 7k the ones on the right actually look usable.

Can the optical sensors even do something like 5000 dpi? I personally didn't see an optical sensor that worked well enough to target single pixels above 1600 or 1800 DPI or so.

Perhaps that G502 might be able to, but I didn't see a Paint picture of someone drawing at 5000 DPI with it. I've only seen something like 2000 dpi which looked great, no jumps in the lines drawn. The picture for 12000 dpi looked like crap, something like 5 pixel large stairs in the lines drawn (or worse). That's the same as what I've always seen on optical mice when trying their highest DPI setting.

Can the 3310 in the Avior 7000 do it? I'm sceptical and I would rather trust laser for something like 5000 dpi.

Gotta rep the Kana v2.. picked one up in the U.K. for £17.99 and will probably pick up another as a backup. With the tape-fix to reduce the LOD it really is good for the price. It's got my Deathadder 2013 gathering dust and it's on a par with the first DA for me tracking-wise. I'd definitely give the DA 2013 a miss if anyone is looking at picking one up in the U.K. it's way overpriced here and to pick one of these up instead.

Xornet is £14.99 though i'm really not sure how good it does in FPS in terms of sensor characteristics - i wouldn't buy one for that for grip anyway, probably. I recommended it several times before buying one though and after buying it i'm a big fan of most stuff, especially the grip and the mouse click (very responsive in terms of feel, firmware 5x flashed and you can't get a faster mouseclick latency with any other mouse)

No obvious sensor flaws for 2d, lets say osu/rts/moba/MMO etc usage so it's an exceptional mouse £15 for all of those if you go with those types of grips. I was thinking of writing a mini review, but i think i've already said pretty much all there is to say in previous posts and here.

A 3090 mouse (kana v2) for sub-£20 is really sweet, will keep almost everyone happy for any game.

I really want one but i'm not sure i can stomach paying another ~£100 (~$169) for input devices between a second mouse and a wacom bamboo tablet. Yikes.

Interesting.. where'd you find an Xornet for that price as it's £16.99 on Amazon U.K. at the moment? The shape of it looks pretty marmite to me but I might pick one up just to give it a go if it's as good as you're saying.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1482937/scan-mionix-avior-7000-and-mionix-naos-7000-both-37-98 - Looks like you missed out on that deal for the Avior! Crazy price..

On the latter note, I've recently picked up a Huion H610 Pro Graphics Drawing Pen Tablet for my girlfriend as a treat for her after getting the opportunity to compare it to the Wacom Bamboo.

I'd pick up the Huion every week over the Bamboo! It's cheaper and far bigger than the similarly-priced Wacom you'd get for that price.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Huion-ExpressKey-USB-Graphic-Tablet/dp/B00DKRLAFY - sub £50 from Huion, direct or http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A40GPM8/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk from Amazon.

(I have a Flubit invite if you plan on getting either off of Amazon to knock a few quid off the price)

I don't really care for drawing, it's just for osu input - look at webcam here, 1:15 to end. They also seem to be around ~£30, so 50 is a lot

People seem to basically get only a few models of wacom bamboo's, among other reasons the added features from the other models are completely irrelevant for playing a game like this. I've not heard anything of other brands, or if they are even usable for such, low-delay absolute position cursor tracking with configurable area

That's a sweet price on avior 7k~

Ropid, i think the 3310 can do 5k DPI quite well. Isn't it supposed to be 5k DPI native? Regardless, i don't see any competitive players using more than 1-2k or so. DPI itself is almost irrelevant for FPS, and for competitive 2d mouse games like osu, many of the best aim players use sub-1k, the decent people at 2-3k are very rare and i don't know of anyone using more.

Anyone know why 1.8k DPI on my new Deathadder 2013 is the same as 4k dpi of my old lachesis ?

Did you measure? I mean with a ruler. If your screen is 1920 pixels wide, moving the mouse pointer from the left edge to the right edge should take a mouse movement of

1920 / 1800 = 1.07 inch = 2.7 cm

That's with mouse pointer speed slider of Windows set to 6/11 (exactly the middle) and "enhanced pointer precision" off.

Yep, it's exactly the same. I have 6/11 and I don't think I need to measure anything. On 4000 dpi it's literally 3-4 times faster than my old mouse ... :/

Btw what do you mean 2.7 cm. That's on 1.8k dpi or 4k ?

That's on 1800 DPI. You can type things like this into Google if you use a 1920 pixel wide screen:

For 1800 dpi you need to type:

1920 / 1800 inch to cm

for 4000 dpi:

1920 / 4000 inch to cm

for 800 dpi:

1920 / 800 inch to cm

That's the formulas, Google will calculate the cm for you and tell you.

Maybe you had some hairs or dust on the sensor? My sensei was feeling super slow at 1600 dpi for a while until I realized I needed to clean it, then had to set it down to 800 dpi to get around the same sens.

Yea, as said, on a 1920 width screen, 1800 dpi ~2.7cm to cross screen, 4000dpi = ~1.2cm to cross screen - assuming your tracking is 1 count = 1 pixel, which it should be.

A DPI/CPI of 1000 set up 1:1 means that your mouse tracks 1000 pixels per inch (2.54cm) so if you don't have that on either mouse, something is wrong

Does anyone know of a fingertip grip mouse that has at least 3 buttons on the side? I currently have a razer naga and have been looking to replace it as the sensor doesn't seem very good and my cursor randomly teleports every now and then which is really annoying since I've been playing more osu recently.

If you have requirements like lots of side buttons for some games or specific grip styles, you might want to use two seperate mice. Most of the small fingertippy mice don't have 3+ side buttons, but maybe some med-sized ones do

Yeah I was considering doing that, the only problem is that I'm really bad at adjusting to different mice/keyboards and I think it might bother me too much. I may end up giving up on the side button thing though, it's only really for wow arena which I hardly play anymore at all anyways.

Any recommendations for a mouse that has a similar size/grip to what the naga has?

The naga is ~135g, the smaller fingertip style mice are usually ~75g +-10g

for bigger stuff, out of the 3310 sensor mice, my favourite is probably the Avior (7000 version) but there's a little choice there. If none of them work you can look at the 3090's or weird sensor variant mice similar to those, for sensor

Think I'm going to go ahead and order that mouse and give it a shot. This is the same thing you were referring to correct? http://www.ncix.com/detail/mionix-avior-7000-gaming-grade-69-92635-1472.htm

Thanks for your help btw

Edit: Actually looking at it again, I have the naga hex(forgot to mention it was hex if it has a different size than the normal one) right now which is pretty short when it comes to length which I actually kind of like since it makes it easier to grip with my fingers and down downwards motions without having to move my wrist. I have a death adder beside me and it says it has a length of 127 while the avior 7000 is 125.3mm. Not sure if I want to be looking for a shorter mouse but then again I use 2000 dpi so maybe it won't be that much of an issue.

You'd probably want to half that sens anyway (is really high end for accuracy demanding stuff)

And yea it is, that's probably just the 3310 mouse that sticks out to me to buy vs the other ones personally - though i prefer smaller stuff for non-FPS (i got xornet/spawn mouse shell)
