Right, so i couldent find any thread on ear plugs after i had looked for them. I'm sure there are some if i look hard enough but i really couldent be bothered to, so here it goes.
I'm looking for a pair of earplugs which are comfortable for long gaming sessions. The reason i want to make the switch from headset to earplugs is because they're more convenient to use in connection with school, and they look atleast half normal.
I've been looking around and the best one i've come across is the "Razer Moray".
Does anyone know if this is the end-all-b-all of ear plugs or if there is indeed a competing brand which might serve me better.
Yours truly, Njal.

You're looking for what are called earphones, earbuds, or in-ear monitors. edit: "Earplug" usually refers to a noise-blocking plug inserted into the ear that does not produce sound. Maybe I'm forgetting some names. I think people use the term "earbuds" most frequently for the kind that sit just inside the ear and do not insert into the ear canal. Do you need one with a microphone?
There are many many models of varying quality and construction. As just a starting point...

Well i guess i mean whats called "in ear earphones" and i dont need a microphone for it as i have a desktop one already.
"edit" The main thing i want is comfort, sound is sound to me so quality dosent really matter all that much.

A while back, I bought the Creative EP-630 from Amazon.de for about 15€. I did some research beforehand, but I don't remember the exact reasoning for the decision. I think it had something to do with the Chinese manufacturer and that they were supposedly the same hardware as some other more pricey earphones.

those are (were, wire broke after about half a year of constant massage through my pants pockets hehe) mine. In-Ear headset, originally designed for iphones (thus also available in white) but my Pre has the same plug, so i use it with that.
i think those exist without a microphone too.
sound is brilliant, as to expect from a sennheiser product. and of course, outside noise blocking is just a genius thing. Only downside is that you kinda here everything that happens to the cable, like if you touch the cable you can hear that pretty clear.

I have Sennheiser earplugs that I accidentally washed in the laundromat. They still work though. Fuck yeah.

The in-ears I use with my ipod are quite nice and very comfortable, Westone 1 They go for about $150
Whatever brand you're looking for though, if you want a good sound isolation seal, get some Comply Tips for the earphones you get. They are very comfortable, stay in place perfectly, and isolate a load of sound

I have the Razer Moray+'s. They work extremely well. I got them on sale for $30, and I don't think I would be bothered by paying full price for them. The mic is better than an integrated mic, and it doesn't really feel like it's reflected in the price (like a free good-quality mic).
As for sound reducing, my roommate was talking to me loudly for pver a minute befpre he turned off the lights in my room, and then I heard him. So they're great for that...
I think that's all. pm me if you have any more questions about them

What's the price range your looking in?

Yeah, it's the same guts as the more expensive and often counterfeit Senn CX300. I'm on my 3rd pair in the past 8 years and I given away a few to my family. It's just a great cheap IEM.

I own a pair of the Razer Moray. They are excellent, I use them everyday

shure series in ears. any of them you want I have the se210s they are quite good best IEMs I have ever had. Keep away from beats and the only good monster ones are the turbine pros though they cost a lot of money and you might as well get shure SE530s.

As someone who's loved IEMs after receiving his first pair (and subsequently threw the earbuds away or donated them), I hope the following tidbits help you out.
The best IEMs are the ones that will completely plug your ear and allows no outside sound to come in whatsoever. They'll usually have rubber or foam tips to help fit your ear perfectly.
Top of the line consumer ones would have to be a ditto on the Shure SE530s, amazing IEMs. Be prepared to get set back a couple hundred dollars though. Awesome balance throughout the highs, mids, and lows. Absolutely wonderful fit even with the rubber tips. Highly recommended if you have the cash and if you're an audiophile. You'll love it.
If you want to go with something a little cheaper but with almost-as-good quality, go with the Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro. Those were a dream until I lost one of the armatures. They'll be less expensive, but still carry a hefty price. These were my favorites up until I lost them, then moved on to the SE530s.
If you want to go with something even cheaper, the Etymotic Research ER-6is aren't too bad. They lack heavily on the bass, but are well-balanced everywhere else. They're in the double-digit range, around $50 or so. They're the best option in the low-end range in my humble opinion.
Good luck!

I've owned the Shure SE530's for several years. They were a big disappointment imo for the money. The huge cutoffs in the high frequency were very noticeable and quite distracting. If you are a person looking for a good deal and bang-for-your-buck rather than splurging on something ... stick with something less than $150. The higher you go in terms of audiophile quality headphones ... the more money you'll spend for very, very, minimal gains.

I don't know your budget but I use the Razer Moray and it's pretty great for the price. It also doubles as a noise canceling earphone for my ipod so I'm happy.
